A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
This is the 18 W Nella Baffled, and the thing that separates it from the similar-looking Nella on the rest of this site is its rating: IP65, not IP54. That is the difference between a fitting for a covered ceiling and one that will take direct water — an open carport, an exposed pergola, a wash-down area. The body is Ø114 mm across and 140 mm deep, on a Ø108.5 mm base plate, and it needs no cut-out.
Black or white, each on either supply. HV5853S-BLK and HV5853S-WHT run on 240 V — Protection Class 1, an earth is required — and are the Triac dimmable ones. HV5853S-BLK-12V and HV5853S-WHT-12V run on 12 V DC from a constant-voltage driver, are Protection Class 3 with no earth at the fitting, and Havit specifies them as not dimmable. Havit's own instruction sheet is blunt about the limit on that version: do not connect the light fitting directly to 240 V. All four have identical optics and identical output.
Five settings — 2700K, 3000K, 4000K, 5000K, 5700K — measured at 1,260 / 1,270 / 1,280 / 1,290 / 1,300 lm. The whole spread is 40 lm, about 3%, which is unusual and genuinely useful: on this fitting you can choose the colour purely on how the space should feel, because the brightness barely moves. That is not true of the smaller Nella bodies, where the same switch swings output by 20% to 46%. The beam is 60° through a honeycomb baffle, glare is rated UGR <10, and colour rendering is CRI >90 with SDCM <3 binning.
IP65 means dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction. It is the reason this range exists alongside the IP54 one. It is not a licence to be careless: the installation sheet requires the seal to stay in place when the fitting is mounted outdoors, and warns that all o-rings and seals must be in place correctly to maintain warranty. Havit also excludes aluminium fittings from sites within 5 km of salt water, which rules out most beachfront work whatever the IP figure says.
The base plate twists off anti-clockwise and screws to the ceiling; the body unplugs from its driver so the plate goes up first, and the whole fitting twists back on clockwise. The colour switch is inside the fitting and preset to 3000K — set it before the body is locked home. Multiple fittings on one run wire in parallel. Rated IK08 for impact with a plastic diffuser and >30,000 hrs of life, and the warranty is 3 years replacement. Lights For You also lists the 24 W version of this same IP65 body where a larger space needs more from each position.
The rating. This one is IP65 — dust-tight and protected against water jets. The visually similar Nella bodies elsewhere on the site are IP54, which covers splashing only. If the ceiling is exposed rather than covered, this is the range to use.
Two finishes on two supplies. BLK and WHT are the 240 V models, Class 1 and Triac dimmable. BLK-12V and WHT-12V are the 12 V DC models, Class 3, needing a constant-voltage driver, and not dimmable.
Barely. The five settings run 1,260 to 1,300 lm — about 3% end to end — so you can pick the colour on appearance alone. The smaller Nella bodies behave very differently, swinging by a fifth or more.
The 240 V models can, on a Triac dimmer. Havit specifies the 12 V DC models as not dimmable, so dimming there would have to come from a driver designed for it.
No. The base plate screws to the ceiling surface and the body twists onto it, so only a cable entry is required. That is what makes it usable on concrete, on soffit lining and under an eave.
The seals. Havit requires the seal to stay in place on any outdoor installation and states that all o-rings and seals must be correctly seated to maintain warranty. It also excludes aluminium fittings from sites within 5 km of salt water.
A slide switch inside the fitting, preset to 3000K. Twist the body off its plate, move the switch, twist it back — worth doing to every fitting on a run before any of them go up.
