A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The longest fitting of the four brass listings: the 12 W extension body, Ø90 mm across and 240 mm deep. It is the one to specify when a surface-mounted downlight has to hold its own against a high ceiling and a large room, and when the brass finish is meant to be seen rather than tolerated.
The extension doubles the housing and leaves the optics alone — same 12 W engine, same 60° beam, same 688 / 840 / 916 / 931 / 1,004 lm as the 120 mm body. There are two real reasons to pay for the extra length. The first is proportion: at 240 mm the fitting is an object in the room, and on a 3 m-plus ceiling a short body simply reads as a smudge. The second is clearance — the extension drops the source below a deep bulkhead, service run or cornice that would otherwise shade the edge of the beam.
The colour row on Havit's own data sheet carries a footnote: "Brass Model can only be used indoors". The black and white versions of exactly this body are rated for covered outdoor use; the brass one is excluded, and the IP54 rating does not override it. Specify this for interiors — stairwells, double-height living rooms, hospitality — and use a black or white body where the ceiling is outside.
Five settings from 2700K to 5700K, selected on a switch inside the body, and on this wattage the difference is substantial: the warmest setting delivers about a third less light than the coolest. Decide the colour before you decide the quantity. Glare is rated UGR <10 thanks to the honeycomb baffle behind the lens, colour rendering is CRI >90, and SDCM <3 binning keeps a row of them consistent with each other.
Both versions are on this page. The 240 V model is Protection Class 1 and requires an earth, connected before positive and neutral, and it is the Triac dimmable one. The 12 V DC model runs from a constant-voltage driver, wires in parallel, is Protection Class 3 with no earth at the fitting, and is not dimmable per Havit.
The Ø85 mm base plate, 34 mm deep, screws to the ceiling through two 9 × 4 mm slots and the body twists on — no cut-out, only a cable hole. Set the colour switch before the body goes home; it is preset to 3000K. Rated IP54, IK08 and >30,000 hrs, with Havit's aluminium exclusion for sites within 5 km of salt water. Warranty is 3 years replacement. Lights For You lists the 7 W extension at 200 mm for the same look at lower output, which is how most mixed schemes in this range are put together.
240 mm, on a Ø90 mm body — the longest of the four brass listings. The standard 12 W body is 120 mm, and the 7 W extension is 200 mm on a Ø75 mm body.
No. Both are 12 W and give 688 / 840 / 916 / 931 / 1,004 lm with a 60° beam. The extension changes the length of the housing only.
No. Havit restricts the brass model to indoor use in a footnote on its data sheet, whatever the IP54 rating suggests. Use the black or white version of the same body outdoors under cover.
About a third. 2700K gives 688 lm against 1,004 lm at 5700K, so on this wattage the colour choice is also a brightness choice — much more so than on the 7 W body.
The 240 V model, on a Triac dimmer. The 12 V DC model is specified as not dimmable, so dimming would depend on a driver built for it.
On the 240 V model yes — Protection Class 1. The 12 V DC model is Class 3 and lands no earth at the fitting.
No — a brass-coloured powder coat over aluminium. Havit lists the material as aluminium, which is why the 5 km salt-water exclusion applies to it.
