A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
This is the 7 W extension body in brass-coloured aluminium — Ø75 mm across and 200 mm deep, exactly twice the length of the standard body on the same Ø72 mm plate. Four brass listings on this site share one title, so use the part number: this one ends -BR-EXT and it is the long, slim one.
The extension adds nothing optically. Same 7 W engine, same 60° beam, same 499 / 512 / 558 / 593 / 601 lm. What it adds is presence and reach. A 100 mm brass cylinder on a 3 m ceiling reads as a small disc; a 200 mm one reads as a deliberate object, which is usually the point of choosing a brass finish in the first place. It also pushes the source below a deep cornice, bulkhead or coffer that would otherwise cut into the beam. Where neither matters, the shorter body is the cheaper answer.
The brass finish carries a restriction the black and white versions of this body do not. Havit footnotes its own colour row: "Brass Model can only be used indoors". The IP54 rating describes what the body resists; this footnote describes where Havit will stand behind it. Treat this as an interior fitting — hallways, stairwells, living rooms, retail — and not a covered-outdoor one.
Five switchable colour temperatures from 2700K to 5700K, with output climbing across the range by about 20% in total, so the setting is a mood decision more than a brightness one. Behind the lens is a honeycomb baffle, and the glare rating Havit publishes is UGR <10 — low enough that the fitting can sit in eyeline down a corridor without becoming the brightest thing in it. CRI >90 and SDCM <3 mean the light renders warm materials properly and consecutive fittings match one another.
Both circuits are on this page. The 240 V model is Protection Class 1 — an earth is required, and Havit's step is to land it before positive and neutral — and it is the Triac dimmable version. The 12 V DC model needs a constant-voltage driver, wires in parallel, is Protection Class 3 with no earth at the fitting, and Havit rates it not dimmable. The bodies are identical; the circuits are not.
No cut-out is needed — the Ø72 mm base plate screws to the ceiling through two 9 × 4 mm slots and the body twists onto it. The colour switch sits inside the body and ships preset to 3000K, so set it before the fitting goes up. It is IP54, IK08, rated >30,000 hrs, and Havit excludes aluminium fittings from sites within 5 km of salt water. Warranty is 3 years replacement. Lights For You also lists this extension body at 12 W, at 240 mm, for rooms that need the same look with more output.
200 mm, against 100 mm for the standard body — exactly double. The diameter is unchanged at Ø75 mm and both sit on the same Ø72 mm base plate.
No. The engine, the 60° beam and the 499 / 512 / 558 / 593 / 601 lm output are identical. The extension changes proportion and how far the source sits below the ceiling.
No. Havit restricts the brass model to indoor use in a footnote on its own data sheet, whatever the IP54 rating suggests. Choose the black or white version of the same body for a covered outdoor ceiling.
No — it is a brass-coloured powder coat over aluminium. Havit lists the material as aluminium, and its aluminium siting rules apply.
The 240 V one, on a Triac dimmer. The 12 V DC model is specified as not dimmable, so any dimming would have to come from a driver designed for it.
On the 240 V model yes — it is Protection Class 1. The 12 V DC model is Class 3 and no earth is landed at the fitting.
The base plate mounts flat to whatever surface it is fixed to and the fitting does not tilt, so on a rake the beam follows the ceiling angle rather than dropping vertically. Plan the aiming around that before setting out the positions.
