Nella Black 18w Surface Mounted LED

This listing sells the 18 W Nella surface-mounted downlight in both finishes — HV5805T-BLK in black and HV5805T-WHT in white. It is the largest and widest-throwing of the fixed Nella surface mounts, and because it sits on the ceiling rather than in it, no ceiling cut-out is required and no plenum depth has to be found. That single property is why this fitting exists: it lights a concrete slab, a rented ceiling, a shopfront soffit or a bathroom lining that cannot be cut.

Mounting, and what has to be true of the ceiling

The fitting is a two-part assembly. A mounting base is fixed to the ceiling first, the luminaire is plugged into it, and the two are locked together. The base measures Ø153 mm and the body that covers it measures Ø157 mm, so the finished fitting hides its own fixings with about 2 mm to spare all round — worth knowing before marking out a row of them, because there is no cover plate to take up a misplaced hole. Havit's drawings give a projection figure for the body that is not labelled in the extractable text of the sheet, so it is not published here.

Output, and which setting is brightest

A slide switch inside the fitting selects 3000K, 4000K or 5500K before installation. Havit's ordering row measures 1380 lm at 3000K, 1430 lm at 4000K and 1305 lm at 5500K. The brightest setting is the middle one, not the coolest — the 5500K position gives about 5% less light than the warm end and 9% less than 4000K. Cool white is a colour decision on this fitting, not a brightness one, and choosing it costs a little light rather than gaining any.

Beam angle — the reason to pick this model over its siblings

The beam is 120°. That is very wide for a downlight and it is the widest in the Nella surface-mounted family: the tilt models throw 60° and the 12 W rotatable throws 36°. A 120° cone from a 2.4 m ceiling covers roughly a 8 m span at floor level, so these are spaced further apart than a narrow fitting and are chosen for even general light rather than for accenting anything. The head is fixed — Havit's data sheet prints "Tilt No" for this model — so if you need to aim it, the tilt or rotatable Nella is the fitting, not this one.

Electrical and siting

It runs on 240 V AC and is Protection Class 1, so an earth is required at the fitting and the installation sheet is explicit that the earth is connected first. It is Triac dimmable from an ordinary wall dimmer, and Havit offers the HV9625 240 V Triac dimmer to suit.

Rating, materials and warranty

The body is powder-coated aluminium behind a Semi Frosted Glass diffuser, rated IP54, IK07, CRI >80, with a lamp expectancy of >30,000 hrs. Its own installation sheet carries a siting restriction that is a condition on the fitting: "Aluminium and 304SS fittings must not be installed within 5km of any salt water environments." Havit's page for these part numbers states "Built-in 18w LED 3 Years replacement warranty (items ordered after 01/01/22)", and HV5805T_Data_Sheet_JULY23.pdf prints "Warranty 3 Years Replacement*".
