This listing is the Gleam deep recessed downlight in the five insert combinations Havit does not sell from a plain black or white page: HV5528T-BG black with a gold insert, HV5528T-WB white with black, HV5528T-WC white with chrome, HV5528T-WG white with gold and HV5528T-WW white with white. Every one is a complete 9 W luminaire, not a trim ring — the insert is the visible bezel colour, and the light engine, the driver, the output and the Ø90 mm cut-out are identical across all five.

What the insert changes and what it does not

The insert sits inside the polycarbonate face and is the part of the fitting a room actually sees. A chrome or gold bezel picks up tapware and hardware; white on white disappears into a plasterboard ceiling; black on white reads as a deliberate graphic detail. None of that touches the optics. All five measure 680 lm at 3000K, 795 lm at 4000K and 745 lm at 5500K from the same built-in 9 W LED, with a 90° beam and CRI >80. The colour temperature is set by a switch on the back of the fitting before it goes in.

The peak is in the middle

Havit's ordering row puts the brightest setting at 4000K, not at the coolest. 5500K gives about 6% less light than 4000K, and 3000K about 14% less. Choose the colour for the room and treat the small difference in output as a consequence rather than a lever — a common assumption on tri-colour fittings is that cooler means brighter, and on this one it does not.

Insulation — three separate conditions, not one

The Gleam reaches IC-4 only when the HV5528-IC4CAP is fitted. Havit then qualifies that rating twice more: it covers the fitting only, and the driver may not be installed under insulation; and the fixture must not be used with loose-fill insulation such as macerated paper or wool. The driver has to sit above any insulation covering the fitting so it can ventilate. The cap adds about 10 mm to the depth the ceiling void has to give up.

Wiring, rating and warranty

It runs on 240 V AC from a separate driver and is supplied with a flex and plug, landing on a plug base fixed in the ceiling. It is Protection Class 2, so no earth is required at the fitting, IK08, rated >30,000 hrs and Triac dimmable. IP54 covers the front of the fitting only — the face resists dust and splashing, the plenum side does not. Havit's warranty line for these part numbers reads "3 Years replacement warranty (items ordered after 01/01/22)". Havit's two current sheets and its earlier model sheet give different body dimensions for this housing, so Lights For You does not publish an overall size here — the Ø90 mm cut-out is agreed by every source, and the depth should be confirmed on site.

Questions
What cut-out do these need?

Ø90 mm. That figure is identical on the model data sheet, on the installation sheet and on Havit’s own page for each of these part numbers. The smaller-hole Gleam is a different model — HV5529T, on a Ø76 mm cut-out — so check which one you are ordering before the ceiling is cut.

Are these accessories or complete lights?

Complete lights. Each part number is a whole 9 W downlight supplied with its driver, flex and plug; the insert is simply the bezel colour. Havit lists all nine insert combinations alongside the plain black and white models in one Model No. row on the installation sheet.

Which colour temperature is brightest?

4000K, at 795 lm. 5500K gives 745 lm and 3000K gives 680 lm, so the coolest setting is not the brightest on this fitting.

Can they be covered by insulation?

Only with the HV5528-IC4CAP fitted, and even then the rating covers the fitting alone. Havit states that the driver may not be installed under insulation and must be mounted above it to ventilate, and that loose-fill insulation such as macerated paper or wool must not be used with this fixture at all.

Do they need an earth?

No. They are Protection Class 2 and arrive with a flex and plug that lands on a plug base installed in the ceiling.

Are they dimmable?

Yes — Havit lists them as Triac dimmable, and offers the HV9625 Triac dimmer to suit its Triac dimmable drivers. Havit also publishes a DALI-dimming equivalent of this fitting through its Commercial range for projects on a control system.

Why is no overall size shown?

Because Havit’s documents disagree. The dated model sheet these listings carry and the current installation sheet give one body size; an earlier model sheet for the same housing gives another, and Havit’s website publishes no dimensions in its page copy. Rather than pick one, this page publishes the cut-out — which every source agrees on — and the fact that the insulation cap adds about 10 mm of depth.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
