Thema Black Round Bollard - 975mm

The Thema is a 975 mm round bollard in poly powder-coated black aluminium, with a sealed 18 W built-in LED behind a UV-stabilised Perspex diffuser. It is the tallest fitting in this Havit bollard range, and Havit sells it in two genuinely different electrical forms rather than one — which changes rather more than the wiring.

Two supplies, and two different protection classes

Havit splits the protection class by supply on this model, and it is worth reading before you order. HV1643T-BLK-240V runs on 240 V AC mains, is Protection Class 1 and requires an earth. HV1643T-BLK-24V is Protection Class 3, needs no earth, and must be run from a suitable 24 V DC LED driver. Havit is explicit that a 24 V DC fitting must never be connected straight to mains. Choose the part number that matches the circuit you already have.

Output, and which setting is actually the brightest

The tri-colour LED gives 3000K, 4000K and 5500K, and Havit pairs them with 760 lm, 855 lm and 835 lm. ⚠ 4000K is the brightest of the three — output does not climb with colour temperature here, so do not pick the coolest setting expecting the most light. The beam angle is 120°, colour rendering is CRI >80 and lamp expectancy is >30,000hrs. Colour is chosen on site: with the power isolated, the head lifts off the post and a selector switch on the PCB sits under a circular cap on its underside.

Siting: IP65, IK08, and 5 km back from salt water

The body is IP65 and IK08, a genuinely useful impact class for something standing at shin height beside a mower. ⚠ It is aluminium, and Havit's installation instructions say aluminium fittings should not be installed within 5 km of saltwater environments. That rules it out of most beachfront gardens — the non-metal bollards in this same range are the ones to look at there. Keep direct high-pressure water, from pressure washers or irrigation heads, off it as well.

Mounting, and two fitted parts that must not be removed

It bolts to a concrete base above ground level through a Ø113 mm mounting base, using all four holes and the supplied Dynabolts; the base arrives attached and an Allen key comes with it, and Havit lists HV162X-CI anchor bolts as the compatible fixing set. Seal the fixing holes, the cable entry and around the base with silicone — Havit states that failing to seal it voids the warranty — and if your supply cable is not circular, seal the entry so the IP rating survives. ⛔ The cable is supplied with a male and female connector and an anti-water syphon already fitted, and removing either voids the warranty. ⚠ A little sway is normal rather than faulty: Havit accepts up to 15 mm of movement at the top of a bollard this tall. This is mains work and must be carried out by a licensed electrician to AS/NZS 3000, and the LED module is not serviceable, so plan on replacing the fitting rather than a lamp.
