Konoa Aluminium Black Bollard Light with Spike

The 7 W Konoa is the one most gardens actually want. It sits in the middle of a three-step range — 3 W, 7 W and 9 W — and it is the step where a 600 mm bollard stops marking an edge and starts genuinely lighting the ground either side of it. Output is 685 lm at 3000K, 710 lm at 4000K and 695 lm at 5500K: roughly two and a half times the 3 W, for around a third more money. If you are lighting a path people walk at night rather than a border people look at from the house, this is the sensible default.

What the extra output buys

Not reach — a bollard at 600 mm throws light down and out, and raising the wattage widens the circle rather than extending it far ahead. What you get is the ability to space fittings further apart without the dark gaps between them becoming obvious, and enough light on the ground that changes in level actually read. That is the practical difference between a garden that looks lit and a path that is safe to walk.

⚠ 24 V DC, and much of the range beside it is 12 V

Konoa runs on 24 V DC and requires a suitable 24 V DC LED driver. Many Havit garden fittings — the Tivah bollards and garden spikes in this same catalogue — run on 12 V DC. The two are not interchangeable and cannot share a driver. If you are adding to an existing low-voltage run, confirm what the driver is before ordering, because a 24 V fitting on a 12 V supply will not perform and the mismatch is the most common thing that goes wrong here. Do not connect the fitting directly to 240 V.

The rest of it, plainly

• Aluminium body, poly powder-coated black, on a spike that drives into soil — no footing needed, and it can be repositioned as planting matures.
• Built-in LED, sealed. Nothing to replace and nothing to specify: the trade for a maintenance-free fitting is that the light it makes is fixed at purchase.
• Tri-colour — 3000K, 4000K and 5500K. Note the output does not simply climb with colour temperature: 4000K is the brightest setting here at 710 lm, not 5500K. Choose the colour you want and treat the small differences as incidental.
• IP65, suited to rain and hose spray in a planted bed.
• 3-year replacement warranty.

Coastal siting — Havit’s condition

Havit’s installation instructions for this fitting state that aluminium fittings should not be installed within 5 km of any salt water environment. That is a condition on where the fitting may go, and it sits beside the IP rating rather than inside it: a fitting can be rated for direct rain and still fall outside this rule, because the issue is salt carried in the air rather than water landing on the surface. Earthing and protection class

This fitting runs on 24 V DC and is Protection Class 3 — no earth is required at the fitting. The isolation comes from the LED driver rather than from an earth conductor, and the fitting must never be connected directly to 240 V.
