A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The 3 W Konoa is the one to buy when you want to see the path, not the light. Garden lighting is over-specified more often than under-specified, and the usual result is a row of bright points that leave everything between them darker by contrast. At 285 lm at 3000K, 275 lm at 4000K and 300 lm at 5500K, this is a fitting that marks an edge, washes a low planting bed and lets your eyes stay adjusted to the dark. It is also the least expensive way into the range, which means you can afford the number of fittings that actually makes a garden read well.
The column stands 600 mm and the body is aluminium with a poly powder-coated black finish. The spike base is the whole point: it drives into soil rather than needing a concrete footing, so you can place it, live with it for a week, and move it when the planting grows in. Black is the right colour for a fitting this size — it disappears against mulch and foliage in daylight and does the work at night.
This is the thing to get right before anything else. Konoa runs on 24 V DC and needs a suitable 24 V DC LED driver. A great many Havit garden fittings — the Tivah bollards and spike lights it sits beside in this catalogue — are 12 V DC. The two are not interchangeable and they must not share a driver: put a 24 V fitting on a 12 V supply and it will not run properly, and the reverse is worse. If you are extending an existing low-voltage garden run, check what the driver actually is before you order. And do not connect the fitting directly to 240 V under any circumstances — that is a job for the driver, not for the light.
Lights For You would rather you bought six of these than three of something brighter — spacing does more for a garden than wattage, and we are happy to work the layout through with you.
Havit’s installation instructions for this fitting state that aluminium fittings should not be installed within 5 km of any salt water environment. That is a condition on where the fitting may go, and it sits beside the IP rating rather than inside it: a fitting can be rated for direct rain and still fall outside this rule, because the issue is salt carried in the air rather than water landing on the surface. If your site is inside that zone, talk to us before you specify it — Lights For You can point you at a fitting whose material Havit does not name here.
This fitting runs on 24 V DC and is Protection Class 3 — no earth is required at the fitting. The isolation comes from the LED driver rather than from an earth conductor, and the fitting must never be connected directly to 240 V.
For edges, low planting beds and marking the line of a path, yes — it gives 285 to 300 lm depending on the colour setting. The common mistake in garden lighting is buying too much output and too few fittings, which flattens everything between the pools of light. If you are lighting a wide driveway or want a feature to carry, step up to the 7 W or 9 W Konoa instead.
No. Konoa is 24 V DC and needs a 24 V DC LED driver. A lot of the Havit garden range, including the Tivah bollards, is 12 V DC, so if you are extending an existing run the odds are good that your driver is the wrong one. Check before ordering — this is the single most common problem with this fitting.
No — the LED is built in and sealed, which is what lets the fitting hold IP65 with no lamp compartment to open. The trade is that there is no globe to buy and none to get wrong, but also nothing to change your mind about later. It is covered by a 3-year replacement warranty.
Havit lists the fitting as tri-colour across 3000K, 4000K and 5500K. The documentation published for this model does not state how the selection is made, so have your electrician confirm it at installation rather than assuming it is adjustable afterwards. We would rather tell you that than guess.
That depends on the effect you want more than on the fitting, but for a path a 3 W bollard is generally placed closer together than a brighter one — you are aiming for a continuous low wash rather than separate pools. Send us the run length and we will suggest a count.
No. It is supplied with a spike that drives into soil, which is what makes it easy to reposition as planting fills in. That also means it suits garden beds better than paved areas, where there is nothing for the spike to hold.
IP65 covers rain and hose spray, which is right for a garden bed. It is not a rating for a fitting that sits in standing water or a hollow that puddles after heavy rain — for those positions you want a higher ingress rating, and we can point you at one.
