Highlite Aluminium Black 1000mm

The Highlite 1000 is a 1000 mm surface-mounted bollard in poly powder-coated black aluminium, with a sealed tri-colour LED behind a frosted Perspex diffuser. It is the taller of the two Highlite surface-mounted bollards, and height is the only specification separating them — same engine, same output, same ratings, same base.

Two part numbers, two protection classes

Havit splits the protection class by supply. HV1626T-BLK-240V runs on 240 V AC mains, is Protection Class 1 and requires an earth, connected first. HV1626T-BLK-24V is Protection Class 3, needs no earth, and must be run from a suitable 24 V DC LED driver. ⛔ Havit is explicit that it must not be connected direct to 240 V. ⚠ Not a style choice: two different electrical installations at two different prices.

24 W or 18 W, and only one of those has a published output

The lamp is a 24 W tri-colour built-in LED module and is not user-replaceable — no globe and no lamp holder. ⚠ A switch inside the head also sets it to 18 W. Havit's published figures are the 24 W ones — 1900 lm at 3000K, 1970 lm at 4000K and 2040 lm at 5500K, so 5500K is the brightest setting. ⛔ Havit's current documents publish no lumen figure for the 18 W setting, so every number here describes the 24 W case only. ⚠ These are the same figures the shorter Highlite carries: both use the same module, so the taller one is not the brighter one. Beam angle 120°, CRI >80, SDCM <5, UGR <29, lamp expectancy >30,000hrs. It is not dimmable. Both switches sit under the head, reached by loosening the Allen screws in the side of the post; it ships set to 3000K.

Siting: IP65, IK08, and 5 km back from salt water

The body is IP65 and IK08. ⚠ It is aluminium, and Havit states that aluminium and 304 stainless fittings must not be installed within 5 km of any salt water environments — not a beachfront fitting, whatever its weather rating. On the 24 V DC version Havit also requires the voltage at the fitting to stay within ±5% of the rated supply, or the warranty is void.

Mounting it — and four conditions that void the warranty

It is surface mounted on a Ø113 mm base plate, supplied attached. ⛔ Each of Havit's conditions is a warranty condition: the base plate must sit on concrete or a concrete pad and must not be installed below ground level; every hole in the base plate, including the cable entry, must be siliconed, with silicone also run around the fitting at ground level; the supplied screws are mild steel and must be replaced with a higher grade anywhere water can reach them; and a non-circular cable must be fixed at the gland or the IP rating and the warranty are both lost. Keep every o-ring and seal seated and use all four fixing holes — Havit lists the HV1607 bollard spike for soft ground and the HV162X-CI anchor bolt set for hard surfaces, and we stock both. This is fixed wiring: a licensed electrician to AS/NZS 3000 must install it with the circuit isolated, wired in parallel.
