Mini 316 Stainless Steel Louvred LED

This is the Mini with both options taken: louvres for glare and bare 316 stainless for looks. Each of those is a deliberate choice with a consequence, and it is worth being clear about both before you order a run of them, because one affects how the light behaves and the other affects what you have to do twice a year.

The louvres change where the light goes, not how much there is

The plain Mini uses a frosted diffuser that scatters light in all directions, the fitting included. This one uses a clear diffuser with louvres in front, which keeps the output undimmed but cuts the sideways and upward component so the light lands on the ground rather than in your eyes. Output is identical to the plain model — 700, 720 and 740 lm on the 240 V globe and 270, 285 and 300 lm on the 12 V one — so nothing is lost. It simply goes somewhere more useful. Use these where the run is in a sightline: beside seating, along a deck you look across, either side of a door.

The finish comes with a routine, and Havit is explicit about it

Havit's page for this part number asks for maintenance every six months, or more frequently in coastal environments, to preserve appearance and warranty, and recommends the HV9971 kit. The installation sheet is where the teeth are: all 316 stainless fittings require regular cleaning to avoid tea staining, and tea staining is not covered by the warranty. If nobody is going to do that, the powder-coated black version of the same fitting is the more honest buy.

Supply, and the rest of the specification

• 240 V AC takes a 9 W E27 globe and wires to the circuit with an earth. 12 V DC takes a 5 W MR16 globe and needs a suitable 12 V DC LED driver — never a direct connection to 240 V.
• 25 m maximum from the driver on the low-voltage model, supply within ±5%. Havit voids the warranty outside that allowance.
• IP54 and 190 mm tall. Base plate on concrete, above ground level, all holes siliconed — another warranty condition, not a preference.
• IK08, CRI >80, 120° supplied globe, parallel wiring, not dimmable, 3 Years Replacement warranty, optional HV1607 spike.
