Same fitting, five times the light, thirteen dollars. The 3 W Drique shares its body, its spike, its lenses and its ratings with the 1 W version, and produces 200 lm at 3000K, 220 lm at 4000K and 225 lm at 5500K against the 1 W's 40 to 45 lm. If you are choosing between the two Driques, that is the whole decision — and for most jobs the 3 W is the better buy, because the price gap is small and a marker that turns out to be too dim cannot be fixed without replacing it.

When the 1 W is still the right answer

When you want a line rather than a light. A 1 W marker every metre along a bed edge reads as a deliberate graphic device; the same spacing at 3 W reads as a lit path, which may not be what the garden wanted. Use the 3 W where people actually walk — driveway edges, the approach to a door, a change of level — and the 1 W where you are describing a boundary. Both take the same short and long Perspex lenses, supplied in the box, so the spread is adjustable after you have seen it at night.

Worth knowing: this one gets brighter as it gets cooler

Most tri-colour fittings on this platform peak at 4000K and fall back slightly at 5500K. The 3 W Drique does not — it climbs, 200 → 220 → 225 lm, so the coolest setting is also the brightest. That is a real measured difference rather than a rounding, and it is worth knowing if you are matching this fitting against others in the same run: set them all to 4000K and the Drique will sit slightly below its maximum. The body is Ø25 mm aluminium with a poly powder-coated black finish, standing 600 mm on a 210 mm spike, rated IP65 and IK08, with glare at UGR <29.

⚠ 24 V DC, wired colour selection, and a 25 m limit

• 24 V DC only, from a suitable 24 V DC LED driver. Much of the Havit garden range beside it is 12 V DC and the two cannot share a supply. Do not connect it directly to 240 V.
• Colour is chosen by cable at installation — the labelled 3000K or 5500K neutral, or both joined for 4000K — then soldered and sealed. It is not a switch.
• 25 m maximum from the driver, supply within ±5%, stated by Havit as a warranty condition.
