The Valec is a plaster up-and-down wall light: a slim white body carrying two GU10 globes, one throwing light up the wall and one down it, wired straight to 240 V mains. Plaster is the point of it — it arrives white and can be painted, so it can be finished to match the wall it sits on and read as part of the surface rather than as a fitting bolted to it.
Two 5 W TRI Colour GU10 globes are supplied, so the fitting draws 10 W in total and produces 540 lm at 3000K, 570 lm at 4000K and 600 lm at 5500K — that is 2 x 270, 2 x 285 and 2 x 300 lm, split evenly between the up and the down throw. Those totals are worth stating plainly because a per-globe figure on a two-headed fitting reads as half the light the thing makes.
The corollary matters just as much: the GU10 base is a standard replaceable socket, so the numbers above describe this fitting as it ships. Fit different globes and the output is whatever those globes make. If you do, the ceiling is 35 W per lamp, and the beam is 120° with the supplied ones — a broad wash up and down rather than a defined pool.
The impact rating is IK01, the lowest of anything we would put on a wall, and the install sheet is explicit that plaster is a fragile material and that mishandling it damages the product and voids the warranty. Treat that as a siting instruction rather than a disclaimer: this belongs on a hallway or stairwell wall, not at knee height in a garage or beside a doorway where furniture gets carried past. The install sheet also warns against overtightening the fixing nuts, because that is what cracks the plaster.
The Valec is Triac dimmable, so a conventional wall dimmer controls it. Havit is careful about which one: its install sheet states that the globes have been tested with Havit’s own dimmers, that other brands may not give the same result, and that this is not classified as a fault of the fitting. The dimmer named on the data sheet is the HV9625 Triac Dimmer, rated to 300 W of LED load, and we stock it. If dimming is part of the brief, specify it rather than assuming whatever is already on the wall will behave.
The rating is IP20 — indoor, dry locations only. Not a bathroom zone, not a covered patio, and not anywhere weather or spray can reach; on a plaster body that is doubly true. Installation is a licensed electrician’s job under AS/NZS 3000. The Valec is Class 1 and requires an earth. The globes come out first, then two nuts inside the body release the mounting bracket, the bracket is fixed to the wall, and the earth is connected before live and neutral. Havit labels the cable entry at Ø12 mm. Modifying the fitting voids the warranty.
The remaining dimensions are given as an unlabelled drawing on the data sheet rather than a table, so check that drawing against your position before ordering — projection from the wall is what decides whether a fitting clears a door or a handrail, and it is not a figure we will guess at.
Lights For You specifies plaster fittings like the Valec where the light is meant to be seen and the fitting is not, and we are glad to talk through paint finishes and dimmer pairing before you order.
Two 5 W TRI Colour GU10 globes are supplied, which is where the published 10 W and 540–600 lm totals come from. The GU10 base is a standard replaceable socket, so those figures describe the fitting as it ships and stop describing it the moment different globes go in. The socket ceiling is 35 W per lamp — do not exceed it.
It is a Triac fitting, and Havit is deliberately careful here. Its own install sheet says the globes have been tested with Havit dimmers and that other brands may not give the same result, which Havit does not classify as a fault of the fitting. The dimmer it names on the data sheet is the HV9625 Triac Dimmer, rated to 300 W of LED load, and we stock it.
No. It runs directly on 240 V AC. It is a Class 1 fitting, so it does need an earthed circuit, and the install sheet asks for the earth to be connected first.
No. It is rated IP20 — indoor, dry locations only — and it is made of plaster, so damp is doubly the wrong environment for it. A bathroom zone or any covered outdoor position needs a weather-rated fitting instead.
The 5500K setting, at 600 lm total. It is 540 lm at 3000K and 570 lm at 4000K, so output does climb with colour temperature on this fitting — but only by about 11% end to end, which is not a difference the eye reads. Choose the one that suits the room.
Take the globes out, undo the two nuts inside the body to release the mounting bracket, fix the bracket in position, then slide the fitting back over it and re-tighten. The install sheet warns specifically against overtightening — that is what cracks plaster. The cable entry is Ø12 mm.
