Kario Twin Wall Light

The Kario is a twin GU10 wall light in travertine and iron, 315 mm high and weighing 2.75 kg.

Travertine is real stone, and that is the point

Travertine is a natural limestone formed in mineral springs, full of small pits and a soft banded grain. It is a material you normally see in floors and benchtops, not lighting. Every piece is different, it warms in colour under light, and it gives the fitting a weight and presence that a stone-look finish cannot fake — which is why this weighs 2.75 kg.

Twin heads, up and down

Two GU10 lamps throw light up the wall and down it, grazing the surface. Against brick, render or stone that grazing light rakes across the texture and shows it — a flat wall wastes half the effect, so put it where the surface is worth lighting.

GU10, so you control the beam

Two globes at 6 W maximum each, 12 W total, not supplied. Because they are replaceable, you choose: narrow-beam globes give two tight columns of light, wide ones a broader wash. That decision matters more here than on most fittings.

Indoor only

It is IP20. Travertine outdoors would be a different product entirely — this one belongs on an interior wall.

It needs an earth

Class I — hard-wired, earth required, and at 2.75 kg the fixing should be into something solid.

Where it works

• Feature walls in brick, stone or textured render.
• Hallways and stairwells, in a run.
• Beside a bed, as an up-and-down accent.
• Rooms with natural stone or timber already in them.

315 mm high, 110 mm wide, projection 35 mm, weight 2.75 kg, in travertine and iron. Two GU10 globes at 6 W maximum each — 12 W total, not supplied. 240 V, Class I — earth required, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. Warranty is three years.
