The Elgar WB is a 250 mm indoor wall light in satin black with white or matt nickel with white — one E27 globe to 40 W, not supplied.
⚠ The globe is not included, whatever our page implied. It said “the 40w bulb is estimated to last for up to 25,000 hours”, which reads as though a lamp comes with the fitting. It does not.
40 W is the fitting's maximum — the most the holder and the shade are built to carry — and the 25,000-hour figure describes a globe you have to buy. What you actually want:
Ask us and we will supply the globe with it.
Both finishes pair a coloured body with white:
The white half is doing real work in both: on a wall light, a white surface next to the source bounces light back onto the wall, which spreads the wash and stops the fitting reading as a bright point with darkness around it.
⚠ A warning about the size, because our own sources are eight times apart. The datasheet records 200 cm high by 160 cm wide — two metres by 1.6 metres, which would be a wall panel, not a light. Our record says 250 mm by 250 mm.
We have published 250 mm, which is a plausible size for a wall light and which the datasheet's figures match if its units are read as millimetres rather than centimetres. But ask us to confirm before you set out a position, and note that no projection is recorded at all — so we cannot tell you how far it stands off the wall.
The description ran to several paragraphs about being “modern”, “energy efficient”, “easy to install” and “low-maintenance”, and never described the fitting — not its shape, not its material, not what the light does.
Here is what we can tell you, and what we cannot.
⚠ Its warranty is ONE year, not the three most of this catalogue carries — and unlike several others we have reviewed, that figure is consistent across the datasheet and our record, so it is a genuine commercial term rather than a data error. Worth knowing before you buy a run of them. If you want a wall light with the full three-year term, ask us.
IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. Hard-wired; a licensed electrician installs it.
250 mm — confirm with us; our sources differ by a factor of eight, and projection is not recorded. In satin black with white or matt nickel with white; material not recorded — ask us. One E27 globe to 40 W maximum — NOT supplied; fit a warm LED at 6–9 W; dimming not recorded — ask us. 220–240 V, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. A licensed electrician installs it. ⚠ Warranty is ONE year, and it is a genuine term.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
No — and our page implied otherwise by saying “the 40w bulb is estimated to last for up to 25,000 hours”. The 40 W is the fitting’s maximum, the most the holder and shade are built to carry, and the 25,000-hour figure describes a globe you have to buy. Ask us and we will supply one with it.
A warm 2700 K LED E27 at 6 to 9 watts, which gives roughly the light of an old 60 W globe and sits far inside the 40 W limit. Not a 40 W incandescent or halogen — there is no reason to go near the ceiling, and it puts real heat into a wall fitting. Ask us whether the shade is enclosed, because no source says.
250 mm, which is what we have published — but our sources are eight times apart. The datasheet records 200 cm by 160 cm, which would be a wall panel rather than a light, and our record says 250 by 250 mm. Ask us to confirm before you set out a position, and note that no projection is recorded at all.
Not recorded — the field that should hold the material contains the finish list instead. Ask us if it matters: on a wall fitting, metal and plastic behave differently over time.
Satin black with white is the strongest contrast — the body reads as a dark graphic shape and the white element catches and returns the light, so it holds its own on a dark or strongly coloured wall. Matt nickel with white is quieter: a soft cool grey that recedes against a light wall, for when you want light on the wall rather than a fitting on it.
One year, not the three most of this catalogue carries — and that figure is consistent across the datasheet and our record, so it is a genuine commercial term rather than a data error. Worth knowing before you buy a run of them; ask us if you want a wall light with the full three-year term.
Dimming is not recorded in any source. On a fitting that simply holds an E27 it will be globe dependent, as every other E27 fitting in this range is, but we have not asserted it. Ask us if a dimmer is planned.
