The Domus BF-2440 is a raw ceramic wall uplight made in Italy, 300 mm wide, 280 mm high and 100 mm deep, taking a single E27 lamp and designed to be painted to match the wall.
⚠ The wattage limit needs a word of explanation, because the figure on the datasheet is a CFL one.
The sheet gives "20 W CFL" — a compact fluorescent maximum. ⚠ That does not translate directly to an incandescent or an LED limit: a 20 W CFL puts out roughly what a 100 W incandescent did, while producing far less heat, and it is heat that a wattage limit is usually protecting against.
✅ The safe reading, and the one we would work to: use an LED E27. A 9–11 W LED gives roughly what a 60 W incandescent did, runs cool inside a ceramic shell, and sits comfortably inside any plausible interpretation of the limit.
⛔ If you intend to fit an incandescent or a halogen, ask us first and we will get the maximum for that lamp type from Domus — it is not stated anywhere.
✅ At 300 × 280 mm with a 100 mm projection, this is one of the taller ceramics in the Domus range and it projects further than most.
Raw ceramic wall uplight, made in Italy. 300 mm wide × 280 mm high × 100 mm deep. Requires 1 × E27 lamp — not included. Supplied unpainted and finishable with any water-based paint. 240 V AC, indoor. 50,000 hrs fitting life. ⚠ Warranty 1 year.
⚠ The datasheet's maximum is "20 W CFL" — a compact-fluorescent figure, which does not translate directly to an incandescent or LED limit. Use an LED E27 (9–11 W); ask us before fitting an incandescent or halogen and we will get the limit for that lamp type from Domus. ⚠ This listing's title spells the brand "Dmonus"; it is Domus, and we have flagged it.

The datasheet gives 20 W CFL — a compact-fluorescent figure — and that does not translate directly to an incandescent or LED limit, because a 20 W CFL puts out roughly what a 100 W incandescent did while producing far less heat, and heat is what a wattage limit usually protects against. The safe answer is to use an LED E27 at 9–11 W: it gives roughly what a 60 W incandescent did, runs cool in a ceramic shell, and sits inside any plausible reading of the limit. If you intend to fit an incandescent or halogen, ask us first.
Not strictly, but it is designed for it. Raw ceramic is supplied unpainted and takes any water-based paint, so it can be finished in the exact colour of the wall and read as a lit recess rather than a fitting. Paint it before it goes up, and ideally at the same time as the wall so the sheen matches.
100 mm, which is more than most of the ceramic range. Worth checking on a narrow hallway or a stairwell landing — 100 mm is enough to catch a shoulder in a tight corridor. On a wider wall it is not an issue, and the extra height (280 mm) suits a taller wall because the wash carries further up.
No. It throws all its light up the wall and across the ceiling, which gives a soft ambient wash with no visible source and makes a low ceiling feel higher. That is what it is for. Pair it with something task-oriented if the room needs to be worked in.
An LED E27 at 9–11 W, and opal rather than clear filament — the fitting throws light upward from an open shell, so a clear globe will put a bright point on the ceiling. If the wall is a colour, choose a high-CRI lamp: a cheap E27 will flatten a painted wall where CRI ≥90 will not.
No. Raw ceramic is porous until painted and the fitting is rated for indoor dry use. For a bathroom wall light, ask us for something with an IP rating suited to the zone.
A typo — it is Domus. We have flagged it for correction. The web address for this page also carries an internal SKU code, which is harmless but is why the link looks the way it does. Neither affects the product.
