5W GU10 LED globe

A replacement LED globe on a twist-lock mains base, running on 240V. This base runs directly on mains, so there is no transformer or driver behind it. The two pins twist and lock a quarter turn - if a globe drops out of a downlight, it is almost always because it was pushed in without being twisted home.

Globes are the one part of a light fitting that is genuinely consumable, and the reason to buy a good one is that a fitting outlives many of them. Getting the base right is the whole job - everything else is a preference.

Light output

It draws 5W. The beam is 30°. Colour rendering is ≥80.

This is a colour-changing globe supplied with its remote. Coloured output from any RGB source is dimmer than white at the same wattage, so plan the number of fittings around the colour you will actually use rather than the white figure.

Dimming

This globe is dimmable. ⚠ On a lamped fitting the DIMMING BEHAVIOUR FOLLOWS THE GLOBE, not the fitting - so a dimmable globe is what makes a dimmed circuit work, and a non-dimmable one will buzz, flicker or refuse to dim no matter what the fitting claims. The dimmer itself should be one rated for LED loads.

Getting a long life out of it

An LED globe rarely fails the way a halogen did. What kills it early is heat: the electronics sit in the base, and in a sealed or insulated fitting that heat has nowhere to go. A globe that dies within months in one fitting and lasts for years in another is almost always telling you about the fitting, not the globe.

If a fitting is fully enclosed, check it is rated for that before assuming the globe is at fault. The same applies to insulation packed against a downlight in a ceiling - it traps heat around the very part that is least tolerant of it.

Before you order

This globe runs on mains, so it needs no transformer or driver behind it. Check the base on the globe you are replacing rather than the shape of the fitting - mains and low-voltage fittings look very similar from below, and the bases are not interchangeable.

Take the old globe with you or photograph its markings. Our team at Lights For You can identify a base from a clear photograph, which is faster than measuring pin spacing.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Credits will be issued in the form of store credit or gift voucher and will be equal to the price paid for the product minus the cost of shipping. Store credit vouchers are valid for six months from the date of issuance.

Our Rights

We reserve the right to refuse a return in cases where we cannot be reasonably satisfied that you purchased the product from us or where we are not responsible for the damage in accordance with our Faults & damages policy.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.

  • Restocking fee: 20% will apply unless otherwise stated, or unless another order of equal or greater value is placed in lieu of this re-stocking fee.
  • Credit: will be issued in the form of store credit and will be equal to the price paid.
