DOMUS TURIN POST TOP B22

The Domus TURIN post top is an exterior lantern that sits on top of a post — 485 mm high, 105 mm across, die-cast aluminium with a moulded acrylic lens, taking one B22 bayonet lamp, in beige, black, burgundy, green or white. Made in Italy, assembled and powder coated in Australia.

Domus builds this fitting to order and asks for up to 10 business days for production before it ships. It is not picked off a shelf.

• ⭐ That is the trade-off for the finish choice. The body is powder-coated in the colour you pick after you order, which is why the range offers five rather than one stocked colour.
• ⚠ Plan the lead time into the job. If it is needed for a handover, a settlement or a booked electrician, tell us the date when you order and we will confirm the production window with Domus.
• ⚠ Order the whole set together. On a property using several of these, a second order placed later starts its own ten days — and a later powder-coat batch is not guaranteed to match the first.

Post top, pillar mount or wall bracket — the same lantern, three jobs

The TURIN head is modular, and this configuration is the one for a column, pier or post:

• Post top (this one) — the lantern sits on top. Right for a gate pier, a masonry column or a plain post, where you want the lantern to read as a finial.
• Pillar mount — fixed to the side of a column.
• Wall bracket — on an S-arm off a wall.
• Pendant, or a single, twin or triple head on posts from 1.32 m to 2.47 m.

✅ One lantern across a property — post tops on the gate piers, brackets either side of the door, singles down the drive — is what makes an exterior scheme look designed rather than accumulated.

⚠ IP43 — and on a post top it is worth thinking about

Spraying water down to 60° from vertical.

• ✅ Rain from above is within it, which is the ordinary case for something sitting on a pier.
• ⚠ Driving rain arrives closer to horizontal and is outside 60°. On an open, wind-exposed gate pier this fitting is at the edge of its rating.
• ⛔ Not for hosing, coastal spray or sprinkler overspray — and a post top on a low pier can catch sprinkler throw, which is worth checking.

If the position is exposed, ask us for an IP44 or IP65 alternative.

485 mm on a pier — getting the proportion right

• At 485 mm high and only 105 mm across, this is a tall, slim lantern — quite different in proportion from the Siena spheres.
• ✅ Slimness suits a narrow pier, where a wide sphere looks top-heavy.
• ⚠ Height needs a pier with some presence. On a low garden wall, half a metre of lantern can look out of scale — consider the Siena sphere or a bollard instead.
• ✅ In pairs, either side of a gate. Symmetry is what makes a post top read as deliberate.

Choosing the lamp — not supplied

• One B22. Behind the moulded acrylic lens it is diffused, so shape does not matter.
• Warm 2700–3000 K. Cool white on an entry reads institutional.
• Around 700–1,000 lm.
• ⚠ Rated for enclosed fixtures and outdoor use.

Where it works

• Gate piers and masonry columns — in pairs.
• Narrow piers, where a sphere would look top-heavy.
• Traditional and heritage entries — particularly burgundy, beige or green.
• ⛔ IP43 — ask us if the pier is open and wind-exposed.
• ⚠ Post not included, B22 lamp not included.
