The Domus POLYSPHERE is a polycarbonate sphere with a base for a 60 mm post — four sizes from Ø200 mm to Ø400 mm, in opal or smoke, IP44, taking one E27 globe. Made in Italy.

⚠ Two things to settle before you order.

  • The globe is not included — it takes one E27, and on a diffusing sphere the globe choice changes the whole result.
  • Our size record and the datasheet disagree. The record lists overall heights of 250 / 300 / 400 / 500 mm; the datasheet gives 210 / 260 / 310 / 420 mm. We have published the datasheet figures, because they form a coherent set with the sphere and base diameters. If the overall height is critical to your job, ask us and we will confirm with Domus first.
What a diffusing sphere does that a shielded fitting cannot

A sphere is the one exterior form that lights in every direction at once:

  • The whole surface glows, so it is an object in the garden as much as a light — visible and attractive from every angle, day and night.
  • It throws light sideways and upward as well as down, which softly lifts planting, walls and fences around it instead of only marking the ground.
  • ⚠ The flip side: it is not a directed light and it does spill upward. If you have neighbours close, or care about a dark sky, a shielded bollard is the better neighbour.
Choosing a size — and the hole that has to fit your post

✅ Those hole sizes are the figures that decide whether it mounts, and they appear in no other source. All four suit a 60 mm outside-diameter post.

  • 200 mm — a marker. Fence caps, low walls, a row down a path.
  • 250–300 mm — the useful middle for a garden or a pier.
  • 400 mm — a statement, and it wants space. On a short post it reads as a sculpture; on a driveway pier, as an entry marker.

⚠ The sphere does not get brighter as it gets bigger — it is the same single E27. A larger sphere is dimmer per square centimetre and softer. Choose on presence, not output.

Opal or smoke, and the globe
  • Opal — white, even, brightest. The traditional choice, and it glows as a clean sphere.
  • Smoke — grey-tinted. Noticeably dimmer, with a warmer, moodier result, and it reads as a dark object by day rather than a white one.
  • The globe: warm 2700–3000 K, opal, rated for enclosed outdoor use. A clear filament globe is visible as a hot spot through the diffuser, especially in the smaller sizes.
  • ⚠ Aim for a moderate output — too bright and a sphere becomes something you squint at, because there is nothing shielding it.

Polycarbonate, which is why Domus recommends it for coastal areas: nothing for salt to corrode, and it will not shatter the way a glass sphere does. IP44 — splash protected, not for pooling water. ⚠ The warranty is one year, shorter than most of this catalogue. 240 V mains, so a licensed electrician.

  • Driveway piers, gate posts and fence caps — on a 60 mm post.
  • Coastal gardens — polycarbonate, and it will not shatter.
  • Where you want the fitting to be seen by day as well as lit at night.

Questions
Does it come with a globe?

No. It takes one E27. Choose warm 2700–3000 K, opal rather than clear filament, and rated for enclosed outdoor use — a clear globe shows as a hot spot through the diffuser, especially in the smaller sizes. Aim for a moderate output: too bright and a sphere becomes something you squint at, because nothing shields it.

Which size should I choose?

The 200 mm is a marker for fence caps and low walls; 250 to 300 mm is the useful middle for a garden or a pier; 400 mm is a statement that wants space. Will it fit my post?

All four suit a 60 mm outside-diameter post. The mounting holes are 92, 110, 120 and 165 mm inner (99, 118, 139 and 178 mm outer) for the 200, 250, 300 and 400 mm spheres. Those figures appear in no other source and they are what decide whether it mounts.

How tall is it overall?

210, 260, 310 and 420 mm for the four sizes, from the datasheet. Our own product record lists 250, 300, 400 and 500 mm — the two disagree, and we have published the datasheet figures because they form a coherent set with the sphere and base diameters. If overall height is critical to your job, ask us and we will confirm with Domus first.

Opal or smoke?

Opal is white, even and brightest — the traditional choice, glowing as a clean sphere. Smoke is grey-tinted, noticeably dimmer, warmer and moodier, and reads as a dark object by day rather than a white one.

Is it suitable near the sea?

Yes — that is why it is polycarbonate rather than metal or glass. There is nothing for salt to corrode, and it will not shatter the way a glass sphere does. Domus recommends it specifically for coastal areas.

What is the warranty?

One year, which is shorter than the three or five years most of this catalogue carries.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

We reserve the right to refuse a return in cases where we cannot be reasonably satisfied that you purchased the product from us or where we are not responsible for the damage in accordance with our Faults & damages policy.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.

  • Restocking fee: 20% will apply unless otherwise stated, or unless another order of equal or greater value is placed in lieu of this re-stocking fee.
