The Comet is an adjustable exterior flood light in black — 5000 K on a 90° beam, CRI above 84, IP44 — in one, two or three-head versions.
Check the order code, not the name. The three-head Comet is
EX2S, not EX3 — an irregular code that is easy to get wrong.
EX1 is one head, EX2 is two, EX2S is three.
Each head aims independently. On a two or three-head Comet that means you can cover a driveway, a path and a side gate from one fitting rather than lighting one broad area and leaving the rest dark. A fixed flood gives you one answer; this gives you three.
90° is genuinely wide — it covers ground rather than picking out a feature. Combined with the adjustable heads, that is the right combination for security and access lighting: driveways, paths, yards and carports, where you want to see the whole area, not a spot in it.
Cool daylight, fixed. That is deliberate on a flood — cool light reads as brighter at the same lumen output and renders detail crisply, which is what security lighting is for. If you want warm light over an alfresco area, this is the wrong fitting and we will point you elsewhere.
Most floods sit at CRI 70 and turn everything grey-green. At >84 the Comet renders colour well enough that a security camera sees usable detail rather than a monochrome smear — a real practical difference on a driveway.
An earlier version of this page claimed “an efficiency rating of over 90%”. That number is the fitting’s power factor of 0.90 — a measure of how cleanly it draws current, not a measure of efficiency. The claim has been removed.
⚠ Our sources disagree — the datasheet says 20 W per head, the record says 10 W. Output is recorded as 800 lm per head consistently, so a three-head Comet gives roughly 2,400 lm. Tell us and we will confirm the draw before you size a circuit.
IP44 — sheltered positions. Protection against splashing water from any direction, not against driving rain on an open wall. Under an eave, a carport roof or a soffit. Warranty is two years, not the three most of this range carries.
Adjustable heads in black, PAR30 format. 800 lm per head, 5000 K, CRI >84, beam 90°, power factor >0.90. Not dimmable. IP44 — sheltered outdoor use. Warranty is two years.
⚠ Wattage per head not confirmed — ask us. Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
EX2S, not EX3 — an irregular code that is easy to get wrong. EX1 is one head, EX2 is two, EX2S is three.
No. An earlier version of this page said so, misreading the power factor of 0.90 — which measures how cleanly the fitting draws current, not efficiency.
Our sources disagree — the datasheet says 20 W per head, the record says 10 W. Output is 800 lm per head either way. Ask us and we will confirm before you size a circuit.
Not on our advice. IP44 is splash protection, not driving rain — under an eave, carport roof or soffit.
Cool light reads as brighter at the same output and renders detail crisply, which is what security lighting is for. It is fixed. If you want warm light over an alfresco area, this is the wrong fitting.
Better than under most floods. CRI above 84 renders colour well enough for usable detail, where a CRI 70 flood gives a monochrome smear.
Two years — not the three most of this range carries.
