This is a 900 mm downrod and wiring loom for the Domus Fresco ceiling fan, with a 190 mm canopy, in black or white.

⛔ Confirm the fan model and your ceiling height with us before ordering. A downrod is a structural part — it holds a spinning fan above people — and there is no datasheet for it.

What we can tell you: it is 900 mm long, includes the wiring loom, has a 190 mm canopy, and is for the Fresco fan. Warranty one year.

What no source records: the rod diameter, the maximum fan weight it is rated for, the coupling type, and whether the mounting hardware is included. ⚠ Its record also holds a length of 900 mm and a height of 90 mm — a factor of ten apart, and only one of them describes the rod.

⛔ Downrods are rarely interchangeable between ranges, because the coupling, the rod diameter and the loom connectors are all specific to the fan. Order by the fan, not by the length.

Why the rod length is a performance decision, not just a spacer
  • A ceiling fan needs air above it as well as below. Mounted too close to the ceiling it recirculates the same air and moves noticeably less of it.
  • ✅ 900 mm is a long rod, and it belongs on a high or raked ceiling — a void, a cathedral ceiling, or a flat ceiling of roughly 3 metres and above.
  • ⛔ On a standard 2.4 m ceiling a 900 mm rod would put the blades at roughly 1.6 m, which is head height. Do not fit this rod on a standard ceiling.
  • ✅ Tell us the ceiling height and we will work back to the right rod length rather than have you order the longest one available.
The wiring loom is part of the package
  • ✅ A longer rod needs a longer loom, made to length with the correct connectors at each end — which is why this is sold as a pair rather than as a bare tube.
  • ⛔ Do not extend a fan's wiring by splicing. A joined cable inside a rotating assembly is not a repair worth making.
  • ✅ Order the rod and loom together as this part rather than sourcing a rod separately.
⚠ A structural fixing as well as an electrical one
  • A ceiling fan is a fixed appliance on a 240 V circuit and a load hanging from the building's structure at the same time.
  • ⚠ On a long rod the loads at the fixing point are higher, because any wobble acts through a longer lever. The fixing has to be into structure, not into plasterboard.
  • ⚠ On a raked ceiling you may also need a sloped-ceiling kit — a standard canopy only takes a few degrees of pitch before the rod binds. Tell us the pitch as well as the height.
  • ✅ Ask us for the installation instructions with the quote so your electrician sees them before the visit.

Will it fit my fan?

Only if it is a Fresco. There are two 900 mm downrods in this range — this CFA-DR2 for the Fresco, and the CFA-DR1 for the Axis, Hover and Motion fans. Downrods are rarely interchangeable between ranges because the coupling, the rod diameter and the loom connectors are all specific to the fan. Send us the model number from the motor housing and we will confirm before it ships.

Is 900 mm right for my ceiling?

Only on a high one. A 900 mm rod belongs on a ceiling of roughly 3 metres or more, or on a raked or cathedral ceiling where the fan has to drop into the room. On a standard 2.4 m ceiling it would put the blades at around 1.6 m, which is head height. Tell us the ceiling height and we will work back to the right length.

Why not mount the fan close to the ceiling?

Because a fan needs air above it as well as below. Mounted too close it recirculates the same air and moves noticeably less of it — so a fan on a high ceiling with no rod both performs worse and sits too far from the people it is meant to cool. The rod is a performance part, not just a spacer.

Does it include the wiring?

Yes — the wiring loom is included, made to the rod length with the correct connectors at each end, which is why it is sold as a pair rather than as a bare tube. Do not extend a fan's wiring by splicing: a joined cable inside a rotating assembly is not a repair worth making.

What weight of fan is it rated for?

Not recorded in any source we hold, and we will not estimate it on a structural part. Ask us and we will get it from Domus — your electrician will want it too, particularly on a long rod where any wobble acts through a longer lever and the loads at the fixing point are higher.

My ceiling is raked — is the rod enough?

Possibly not on its own. A standard canopy only takes a few degrees of pitch before the downrod binds against its edge, so a raked ceiling usually needs a sloped-ceiling kit as well. Tell us the pitch as well as the height and we will work out what the installation needs.

Can I fit it myself?

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Cancellations
