DOMUS STRAP-WB WALL BRACKET

The Domus STRAP-WB is an indoor wall light — conical shade held by a leather strap, 1 × E27, 240 V, 164 × 220 × 235 mm, in matt black or matt white.

⛔ It publishes two different maximum lamp wattages

• ⭐ Its datasheet says 60 W Max. Its own product record says 25 W.
• ⭐ AND IT IS THE ONLY ONE IN ITS FAMILY THAT DOES. ⭐ The STRAP pendant, table lamp and floor lamp all read “25W LED Max” on their sheets and 25 W on their records.
• ⭐⭐ TWO EXPLANATIONS ARE ORDINARY AND THE DATA CANNOT SEPARATE THEM:
  • ⭐ (a) It is genuine. ⭐ A wall bracket points its lamp upward into open air, so heat rises away from the fitting rather than being trapped in a shade. ⭐ A higher lamp rating on an upward-facing fitting is entirely plausible.
  • ⭐ (b) It is a generic holder figure copied in. ⭐ 60 W is the standard E27 incandescent rating and appears on many unrelated products.
• ⭐ WE HAVE PUBLISHED 25 W AS THE FIGURE TO DESIGN TO. ⭐ It is the conservative reading, it matches the rest of the family, and it matches this product's own record. ⭐ If you want to fit a larger lamp, ask us and we will get it confirmed — it is a one-line answer from Domus and not worth guessing at.
• ⭐ IN PRACTICE IT RARELY MATTERS: a modern E27 LED giving as much light as an old 60 W incandescent draws around 8 W. ⭐ The 25 W ceiling is far above anything you would actually fit.

⭐ A wall bracket in a family of four — and what that is worth

• ⭐ STRAP is a pendant, a table lamp, a floor lamp and this wall light, all sharing the conical shade and leather strap.
• ⭐⭐ MATCHED FAMILIES ARE MORE USEFUL THAN THEY LOOK, and the reason is coherence at different heights. ⭐ A room lit by a pendant over the table, a floor lamp in the corner and wall brackets flanking a bed reads as designed rather than assembled, because the same form appears at three scales.
• ⭐ THE WALL BRACKET IS THE PIECE THAT MAKES THAT WORK IN A BEDROOM — ⭐ it frees the bedside table entirely, which on a narrow table is often the difference between usable and cluttered.
• ⭐ At 235 mm high and projecting 220 mm, mount it around 1,400 to 1,500 mm above floor level beside a bed — ⭐ high enough to clear the bedhead, low enough to light a book.

⭐ E27 and no lamp — which on this shade is a real decision

⭐ The lamp is not included. ⭐⭐ A CONICAL SHADE IS OPEN AT BOTH ENDS, so the lamp is visible from below and from above. ⭐ That makes the choice partly visual:

• ⭐ A clear or filament lamp is seen directly and can glare at seated eye level — ⭐ attractive in a decorative position, uncomfortable beside a bed.
• ⭐ An opal or frosted lamp diffuses before it leaves the shade — ⭐ which for a reading position is almost always the better answer.

⭐ Matt black or matt white, and the leather strap

⭐ Both are painted finishes rather than raw metal, so they hold their appearance. ⭐ The leather strap is the detail that dates or defines the piece depending on the room — it reads as warm and handmade against timber and plaster, and slightly out of place against high-gloss or very minimal joinery. ⭐ Black recedes; white almost disappears against a light wall.

Specifying it

Matt black or matt white. 1-year warranty. ⛔ ITS SHEET SAYS 60 W MAX AND ITS OWN RECORD SAYS 25 W, and it is the only STRAP product that disagrees — the pendant, table lamp and floor lamp all read 25 W in both places. Two explanations are ordinary: a wall bracket points its lamp upward so heat rises away, which would justify a higher rating; or 60 W is the generic E27 incandescent figure copied in. THE DATA CANNOT SEPARATE THEM, so we publish 25 W as the figure to design to. ⭐ In practice it rarely matters — an LED matching a 60 W incandescent draws about 8 W.
