DOMUS SHADOW 1LT W/B

The Domus SHADOW 1LT W/B is a single-direction exterior wall light taking a GU10 lamp, IP65, 180 × 100 × 68 mm in aluminium, in black, white, copper, stainless steel or titanium silver.

What a single-direction wall light does

• All the light goes one way — down the wall, or up it, depending on how it is mounted.
• ✅ Down is the usual and the safer choice outdoors: it lights a path, a door threshold or a step without throwing light into a neighbour's window or up into the sky.
• ✅ Up grazes a rendered or stone wall for effect, and looks considered on a facade — but check any obtrusive-light condition on the site first.
• ⚠ A single-direction fitting creates a hard edge where the light stops. In a run along a wall, space them so the pools overlap or the wall will read as a series of scallops with dark gaps.

Choosing the GU10

• GU10 is the 240 V twist-lock base — no driver, no transformer, wires straight in. ✅ That is the simplest exterior lamp arrangement there is.
• An LED GU10 at 5–7 W gives roughly what a 50 W halogen did and runs cool inside a sealed IP65 body, which matters more outdoors than in.
• Beam: 36° for a tighter pool on a path or a step; 60° for a wider wash down a wall.
• Colour: 3000 K on render, brick, stone and timber — warm light outdoors reads as light; cooler reads as security.
• ⚠ Do not exceed 35 W, and if you are fitting halogen rather than LED, respect it strictly — heat in a sealed IP65 housing has nowhere to go.

IP65, and choosing the finish

• IP65 — full weather exposure, including being hosed. ✅ That is the right rating for an unprotected wall, unlike the IP23 and IP44 fittings elsewhere in this catalogue.
• Black and white disappear against most walls.
• Stainless steel is the choice near the coast and where the fitting will be seen.
• Copper will weather and patina over time. ✅ On the right house that is the point; ⚠ it is not a finish that stays as it arrives.
• Titanium silver sits between black and stainless — a mid grey that reads modern against render.
