The Domus LYNX 5 W is a surface-mounted single-emitter wall or step light — 175 mm long, IP54, tri-colour switchable, CRI ≥90. 240 V mains — no driver required. ⛔ Not dimmable.
| LYNX size | 240 V | 12/24 V |
|---|---|---|
| 2 × 12 W | ⛔ No | ✅ Yes |
| 2 × 5 W | ⛔ No | ✅ Yes |
| 2 × 3 W | ⛔ No | ✅ Yes |
| 5 W single | ⛔ No — this one | ✅ Yes |
| 3 W single | ⛔ No | ✅ Yes |
✅ This listing records voltage = 240V, and that is right. ⛔ Its
12/24 V twin records the same figure and there it is wrong — a low-voltage fitting
labelled as mains, one of 12 Domus fittings carrying that error. ⭐ The same value,
correct here and dangerous there — which is why each SKU is checked rather than the range read
once.
CRI ≥90 against the ≥80 of most of this catalogue. ⚠ Measured: 100 of 282 Domus products stating a CRI reach 90 — 35%, ⭐ a substantial minority clustered in strips, step lights and exterior wall lights. ⭐ The walking surface is the ONLY thing this fitting lights — ⭐ sandstone, travertine, warm pavers and timber decking go flat and grey at CRI 80 and hold their colour at 90.
application = Indoor on a fitting typed Exterior Wall Lights.
⛔ No warranty recorded.
Surface-mounted single-emitter LED wall and step light. 175 mm. 240 V mains — no driver. Switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5000 K. 464–516 lm. CRI ≥90. 120°. IP54. Cast aluminium, chromate pre-treated and powder coated. TPS cable gland. 50,000 hrs. Black or White. ⛔ ITS TITLE SAYS 5W AND ITS DATASHEET SAYS 7W — use 7W for circuit load. A run of ten is 70W, not 50. ⛔ NOT DIMMABLE — the 12/24V version is, and this completes the pattern across all five LYNX size pairs. ✅ Its 240V record is correct, where the same figure on its twin is wrong. ⛔ Warranty not recorded.

7W. The title says 5W and the datasheet says 7W, and the lumen figures settle it: 516 lumens at 7W is about 74 lumens per watt, squarely inside the LYNX range's 62 to 82 band, where at 5W it would be 103 — outside anything else in the family. It is the second instance in the range: the "3W" single is actually 5W, by the same 2W margin. On a mains fitting this is a circuit-load question — a run of ten is 70W rather than 50. Small in absolute terms, but the kind of under-count that makes a calculation marginal once other loads are on the circuit.
No — and this listing completes the pattern. Every LYNX size is sold as a 240V version that does not dim and a 12/24V version that does: five sizes, five pairs, and the rule holds in every one. No listing mentions its pair. So the voltage choice is the dimming choice across the whole range. Take this version for a one-off on an existing mains point or where there is nowhere dry for a driver; take the low-voltage version for a run you will want to turn down.
Yes, and it is worth saying because the identical figure on its 12/24V twin is wrong — that one is a low-voltage fitting labelled as mains, one of twelve Domus fittings carrying that error. The same value is correct here and dangerous there, which is why each SKU is checked rather than the range read once. If you are buying this one, the mains wiring is genuinely right.
Because a step riser, a low kerb, a free-standing edge or the top of a retaining wall has nothing above it — and on those a twin fitting's up-light simply lights the sky, so you pay for an emitter that does nothing. None of the twin listings makes that distinction, which is why the single-emitter versions get overlooked exactly where they are the better buy.
Roughly a third more light — 464 to 516 lumens against 318 to 378 — over a 60mm longer body. At 175mm it covers a wider step or a broader path edge without becoming a fixture, where the 115mm suits a narrow riser or a tight edge. Same construction, same CRI; it is a coverage decision rather than a quality one.
On this fitting more than most, because the walking surface is the only thing it lights — colour rendering is the whole result rather than a refinement. Sandstone, travertine, warm pavers and timber decking all go flat and grey at CRI 80 and keep their colour at 90. We measured how special the figure is: 100 of the 282 Domus products stating a CRI reach 90, which is 35% — a substantial minority, clustered in strips, step lights and exterior wall lights.
Straight to mains — no driver, no low-voltage run. It uses a TPS cable gland, so standard building cable enters the fitting directly without a separate junction box, which is one of the practical reasons the range suits retrofits onto existing points. Allow 7W per fitting for load rather than the 5W in the title and record.
