The Domus LYNX 5 W is a surface-mounted single-emitter wall or step light — 175 mm long, IP54, tri-colour switchable, CRI ≥90, and dimmable. 12 or 24 V DC — a driver is required.
| LYNX single | Title | Datasheet | Lumens ÷ sheet watts |
|---|---|---|---|
| 115 mm | 3 W | ⭐ 5 W | 378 ÷ 5 = ≈76 lm/W ✅ |
| 175 mm (this one) | 5 W | ⭐ 7 W | 516 ÷ 7 = ≈74 lm/W ✅ |
voltage = 240V, ac_dc = AC; ✅ the datasheet says
12–24 V DC and requires a constant-voltage driver, wired in parallel.
CRI ≥90, where most of this catalogue is ≥80. ⚠ Measured: 100 of 282 Domus products stating a CRI reach 90 — 35%, ⭐ a substantial minority clustered in strips, step lights and exterior wall lights. ⭐ On a downward-only fitting the walking surface is the ONLY thing it lights, so colour rendering is the whole result — ⭐ sandstone, travertine, warm pavers and timber decking go flat and grey at CRI 80 and hold their colour at 90.
application = Indoor on a fitting typed Exterior Wall Lights.
⛔ No warranty recorded.
Surface-mounted single-emitter LED wall and step light. 175 mm. 12 or 24 V DC — constant-voltage driver required, wired in parallel. Switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5000 K. 464–516 lm. CRI ≥90. 120°. IP54. Cast aluminium, chromate pre-treated and powder coated. TPS cable gland. 50,000 hrs. Dimmable. Black or White. ⛔ ITS TITLE SAYS 5W AND ITS DATASHEET SAYS 7W — the lumens put it at ≈74 lm/W, in the range's band, so size drivers on 7W. On eight fittings that is 56W, not 40. ⭐ BOTH single-emitter LYNX sizes understate by 2W. ⛔ ITS RECORD SAYS 240V AC — it is a 12/24V DC fitting. ⛔ Warranty not recorded.

7W. The title says 5W and the datasheet says 7W, and the lumen figures settle it: 516 lumens at 7W is about 74 lumens per watt, squarely inside the LYNX range's 62 to 82 band, where at 5W it would be 103 — outside anything else in the family. This is the second time in the range: the "3W" single is actually 5W, by the same 2W margin. Size drivers on 7W per fitting, not 5; on a run of eight that is 56W rather than 40, enough to move you from a 60W driver to a 100W one.
Low voltage — 12 to 24V DC with a constant-voltage driver required, wired in parallel. Its record says 240V and AC, and that is wrong: its own datasheet says 12–24V DC. This fitting must not be connected to mains. Twelve Domus fittings sold as 12V or 24V carry the same wrong figure. There is a 240V version of this fitting, and it is not dimmable.
Because a step riser, a low kerb, a free-standing edge or the top of a retaining wall has nothing above it, and on those a twin fitting's up-light simply lights the sky — you would be paying for an emitter that does nothing. None of the twin listings makes that distinction, so the single-emitter versions get overlooked exactly where they are the better buy.
Roughly a third more light — 464 to 516 lumens against 318 to 378 — over a 60mm longer body. At 175mm it covers a wider step or a broader path edge without becoming a fixture, where the 115mm suits a narrow riser or a tight edge. Both are the same construction and the same CRI; it is a coverage decision.
A 12V or 24V DC constant-voltage driver with the fittings wired in parallel, so every one sees the full voltage. Size on 7W per fitting rather than the 5W in the title and the record — the datasheet and the output figures both point to 7W. Add headroom on top; running a driver at its rated maximum shortens its life. Tell us the fitting count and cable run and we will size it with you.
On this fitting especially, because the walking surface is the only thing it lights — so colour rendering is not a refinement, it is the whole result. Sandstone, travertine, warm pavers and timber decking all go flat and grey at CRI 80 and keep their colour at 90. We measured how special the figure is: 100 of the 282 Domus products stating a CRI reach 90, which is 35% — a substantial minority rather than a rarity, clustered in strips, step lights and exterior wall lights.
The body is built for it: cast aluminium with a chromate conversion process before the polyester powder coat, which gives the coating something to key into. Powder coat lifting off untreated aluminium is how surface-mounted exterior fittings usually fail — cosmetically, with blistering and corrosion beneath. At IP54 it is rated for splashing rather than jets, so keep it clear of direct hosing and off the coastal front line.
