The Domus LYNX 3 W is a surface-mounted single-emitter wall or step light — 115 mm long, IP54, tri-colour switchable, CRI ≥90. 240 V mains — no driver required. ⛔ Not dimmable.
CRI ≥90, where most of this catalogue is ≥80. ⚠ Measured: 100 of 282 Domus products stating a CRI reach 90 — 35%, ⭐ a substantial minority clustered in strips, step lights and exterior wall lights. ⭐ On a downward-only fitting the walking surface is the ONLY thing it lights, so colour rendering is not a refinement — ⭐ sandstone, travertine, warm pavers and timber decking all go flat and grey at CRI 80 and keep their colour at 90.
application = Indoor on a fitting typed Exterior Wall Lights.
⛔ No warranty recorded.
Surface-mounted single-emitter LED wall and step light. 115 mm. 240 V mains — no driver. Switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5000 K. 318–378 lm. CRI ≥90. 120°. IP54. Cast aluminium, chromate pre-treated and powder coated. TPS cable gland. 50,000 hrs. Black or White. ⛔ ITS TITLE SAYS 3W AND ITS DATASHEET SAYS 5W — the output puts it at ≈76 lm/W, in line with the range, so use 5W for circuit load. A run of ten is 50W, not 30. ⛔ NOT DIMMABLE — the 12/24V version is. ⭐ Single emitter: the right fitting where nothing sits above. ⛔ Warranty not recorded.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
5W. The title says 3W and the datasheet says 5W for the same SKU, and the output figures settle it: 378 lumens at 5W is about 76 lumens per watt, in line with the rest of the LYNX range at 62 to 82, where at 3W the same output would be 126 — far outside anything else in the family. On a mains fitting this matters for circuit load rather than driver sizing: a run of ten is 50W rather than 30. Small in absolute terms, but the sort of under-count that turns a comfortable calculation into a marginal one when combined with other loads.
No — this 240V version has fixed output, and the 12/24V version of the same fitting dims. Neither listing mentions the other. We measured all ten LYNX listings: five sizes, five pairs, and the pattern holds in every one, so the voltage choice is really a dimming choice. Take this version for a one-off on an existing mains point or where there is nowhere dry for a driver; take the low-voltage version for a run you will want to turn down.
Because a step riser, a low kerb, a free-standing edge or the top of a retaining wall has nothing above it — and on those a twin fitting's up-light simply lights the sky. You would be paying for an emitter that does nothing. None of the twin listings makes that distinction, so the single-emitter versions get overlooked in exactly the positions where they are the better buy.
On this fitting more than most, because the walking surface is the only thing it lights — so colour rendering is not a refinement, it is the whole result. Sandstone, travertine, warm pavers and timber decking all go flat and grey at CRI 80 and keep their colour at 90. We measured how special the figure is rather than assuming: 100 of the 282 Domus products stating a CRI reach 90, which is 35% — a substantial minority, clustered in strips, step lights and exterior wall lights.
Straight to mains — no driver, no low-voltage run. It uses a TPS cable gland, so standard building cable enters the fitting directly without a separate junction box, which is one of the practical reasons the range suits retrofits onto existing points. Allow 5W per fitting for load rather than the 3W in the title and record.
The body treatment is built for it: cast aluminium with a chromate conversion process before the polyester powder coat, which gives the coating something to key into. Powder coat lifting off untreated aluminium is how surface-mounted exterior fittings usually fail — not electrically, but cosmetically, with the coating blistering and the metal corroding beneath. At IP54 it is rated for splashing rather than jets, so keep it clear of direct hosing and off the coastal front line.
Not really — it is a single downward emitter, so it lights the surface beneath it and nothing else. For a wall wash you want one of the twin-emitter LYNX fittings, which throw up as well as down and make the wall read as lit rather than the fitting read as bright. Tell us the position and we will say which of the two suits it.
