The Domus LYNX 2 × 5 W is a surface-mounted up-and-down wall or step light — 175 mm long, IP54, tri-colour switchable, CRI ≥90. 240 V mains — no driver required. ⛔ Not dimmable.

⛔ Not dimmable — and on a path light that is the trade to think about

• ⛔ This 240 V version does not dim. ✅ The 12/24 V version of the same fitting does. ⛔ Neither listing mentions the other.
• ⭐ It matters more here than on any other LYNX size, because this is the general-purpose path and step fitting — ⭐ the one most likely to be installed in a run of six or eight and left on from dusk to dawn.
• ⚠ Full output at 2am is rarely what anyone wants, and on a run it is where the running cost sits.
• ⭐ So decide deliberately. ⭐ Take this version for a short run, a single position, or a retrofit onto an existing mains point — nothing extra to size, site or replace. ⭐ Take the low-voltage version for a long run you will want to turn down.

✅ This listing records voltage = 240V, and that is right. ⛔ Its 12/24 V twin records the same figure and there it is wrong — a low-voltage fitting labelled as mains. ⭐ Twelve Domus fittings sold as 12 V or 24 V carry that error. ⭐ The same value, correct on one listing and dangerous on the other, which is why each SKU is checked rather than the range read once.

⭐ The size that suits most jobs

• ⭐ 739 lm lights a path properly and washes a wall visibly, at a length that reads as a considered fitting rather than a fixture.
• ⚠ Efficiency falls as the fitting grows — ⭐ 82 lm/W at the smallest down to 62 at the largest. Where coverage allows, more small fittings beat fewer large ones.
• ⛔ Its power field records 5 W on a 2 × 5 W fitting — ⭐ allow 10 W each for circuit load. On eight fittings that is 80 W, not 40.

⭐ Up and down, and where the up-light is wasted

• ⭐ The downward emitter lights the ground; the upward one makes the wall read as lit.
• ⚠ The up-light needs a surface above it. ⭐ Against a wall it works; on a free-standing edge or a low kerb with nothing above, half the fitting is doing nothing — and the single-emitter 5 W LYNX at the same length is the better buy there.
• ⭐ CRI ≥90 is what makes the up-light worth having: ⭐ grazing light on brick, render or stone is the hardest test of colour rendering, and at CRI 80 warm masonry reads grey. ⚠ Measured, 35% of Domus products stating a CRI reach 90 — a substantial minority rather than a rarity.

• ⚠ Not on a free-standing edge — the up-light needs a wall.
