The Domus LYNX 2 × 5 W is a surface-mounted up-and-down wall or step light — 175 mm long, IP54, tri-colour switchable, CRI ≥90, and dimmable. 12 or 24 V DC — a driver is required.
voltage = 240V and ac_dc = AC. ✅ The
datasheet says 12/24 V DC and requires a constant-voltage driver.
| LYNX size | Output | Efficacy | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 × 3 W, 115 mm | 490 lm | ⭐ ≈82 lm/W | Steps, tight positions |
| 2 × 5 W, 175 mm | 739 lm | ≈74 lm/W | ⭐ Paths, walls, general use |
| 2 × 12 W, 260 mm | 1,482 lm | ⚠ ≈62 lm/W | Tall walls, facades |
CRI ≥90 against the ≥80 of most of this catalogue. ⚠ Measured: 100 of 282 Domus products stating a CRI reach 90 — 35%, ⭐ a substantial minority clustered in strips, step lights and exterior wall lights. ⭐ Grazing light across brick, render or stone is the hardest test of colour rendering there is: at CRI 80 warm masonry goes grey, at 90 it holds its colour.
application = Indoor on a fitting typed Exterior Wall Lights.
⛔ No warranty recorded.
Surface-mounted up/down LED wall and step light. 175 mm. 2 × 5 W (10 W total). 12 or 24 V DC — constant-voltage driver required, wired in parallel. Switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5000 K. 628–739 lm. CRI ≥90. 120°. IP54. Cast aluminium, chromate pre-treated and powder coated. TPS cable gland. 50,000 hrs. Dimmable. Black or White. ⛔ ITS RECORD SAYS 240V AC — it is a 12/24V DC fitting and must not be connected to mains. ⭐ The 240V version exists and is NOT dimmable. ⛔ The power field records 5W on a 2 × 5W fitting: size the driver on 10W each. ⛔ Warranty not recorded.

This one, for most jobs. At 175mm and 739 lumens it lights a path properly and washes a wall visibly without the 260mm fitting's bulk on a domestic wall, and it sits in the middle on efficiency too — about 74 lumens per watt against 82 on the smallest and 62 on the largest. The efficiency penalty grows with size in this range, which is worth knowing before defaulting to the biggest. Repeated along a path at regular centres, this is the one that looks right.
Low voltage — 12 or 24V DC with a constant-voltage driver required. Its record says 240V and AC, and that is wrong: its own datasheet says 12/24V DC. This fitting must not be connected to mains. Twelve Domus fittings sold as 12V or 24V carry the same wrong figure, read down from a 40-listing first pass in which 14 of the flags were drivers, where a 240V input is perfectly correct.
Yes — and that is why this version exists. Every LYNX size is sold as a 240V version that does not dim and a 12/24V version that does, in all five pairs. Neither listing mentions the other. So the voltage choice is really a dimming choice: if you want to dim, you take the low-voltage version and run a driver. On a path or step light that is usually right, since full output late at night is rarely what you want.
It makes the wall read as lit rather than the fitting read as bright — the difference between a row of glowing objects along a path and a lit surface. The downward half lights the ground you walk on; the upward half does the atmosphere. But it needs a surface to hit: against a wall it works, and on a free-standing post or a low edge with nothing above, the up-light is wasted. The 5W single-emitter LYNX at the same 175mm length is the fitting for those positions.
A 12V or 24V DC constant-voltage driver, with the fittings wired in parallel rather than in series so every one sees the full voltage. Size it on 10W per fitting, not the 5W the record shows — this is a 2 × 5W fitting and the field records one emitter. Add headroom on top; running a driver at its rated maximum shortens its life. Tell us the fitting count and cable run and we will size it with you.
On the up-light half, very much. Grazing light across brick, render or stone is the hardest test of colour rendering there is: at CRI 80 warm masonry goes grey, and at 90 it holds its colour. We measured how special the figure is rather than assuming — 100 of 282 Domus products stating a CRI reach 90, which is 35%. A substantial minority rather than a rarity, and clustered in exactly these products: strips, step lights and exterior wall lights.
The body treatment is built for it: cast aluminium with a chromate conversion process before the polyester powder coat, which is what gives the coating something to key into. Powder coat lifting off untreated aluminium is how surface-mounted exterior fittings usually fail — not electrically, but with the coating blistering and the metal corroding beneath. At IP54 it is rated for splashing rather than jets, so keep it clear of direct hosing and of the coastal front line.
