Domus LYNX 2 X 3W TRIO LED IP54 12/24V 115mm Long

The Domus LYNX 2 × 3 W is a surface-mounted up-and-down wall or step light — 115 mm long, IP54, tri-colour switchable, CRI ≥90, and dimmable. 12 or 24 V DC — a driver is required.

⭐ It is the most efficient fitting in the range — which inverts the usual assumption

• ⭐ Efficiency falls as the fitting grows — a third less light per watt at the top of the range than the bottom.
• ⭐ So three of these (18 W, 1,470 lm) give almost exactly the light of one 2 × 12 W (24 W, 1,482 lm) for a quarter less power — and spread it over three positions instead of one.
• ⭐ On a path or a run of steps that is the better answer twice over: less energy, and even light instead of one bright pool falling away.
• ⚠ It costs two more fittings, two more fixings and two more cable positions. ⭐ Where the run already exists, that is cheap; where each position is a separate excavation, it is not.

⛔ It is 12/24 V DC, and its record says 240 V AC

• ⛔ The record says voltage = 240V and ac_dc = AC; ✅ the datasheet says 12/24 V DC and requires a constant-voltage driver.
• ⚠ This fitting must not be connected to mains. ⭐ 12 Domus fittings sold as 12 V or 24 V carry the same wrong figure.
• ✅ A 240 V version of this fitting exists — ⛔ and it is not dimmable.
• ⭐ On a run of small fittings, low voltage is usually the right choice anyway: one driver feeds them all in parallel, and six of these draw 36 W in total — well inside a 60 W driver.

⭐ 115 mm is small enough to disappear

• ⚠ Just over a hand's width. ⭐ On a step riser, a low retaining wall or a narrow path edge it reads as a detail rather than a fixture — which is usually what you want at knee height.
• ⭐ And it is the one that fits where the others do not: a 260 mm fitting on a 150 mm riser looks wrong and often will not physically sit.
• ⚠ 490 lm across two emitters is modest, so ⭐ plan on more of them at closer centres rather than expecting one to cover a length.
• ⭐ That is the point of the size, not a limitation.

⭐ CRI ≥90, and the up-light

CRI ≥90 against the ≥80 of most of this catalogue. ⚠ Measured: 100 of 282 Domus products stating a CRI reach 90 — 35%, ⭐ a substantial minority clustered in strips, step lights and exterior wall lights. ⭐ The up-light half is where it shows: grazing light across brick, render or stone is the hardest test of colour rendering, and at CRI 80 warm masonry reads grey. ⚠ On a low riser with nothing above it, the up-light is wasted — ⭐ the single-emitter 3 W LYNX is the fitting there.

• Narrow path edges, repeated at close centres.
• Long runs on one driver — ⭐ six draw only 36 W.
• ⭐ Anywhere you would otherwise use fewer large fittings — more small ones use less energy and light more evenly.
• ⛔ Not on mains, despite the record.
