The Domus LYNX 2 × 3 W is a surface-mounted up-and-down wall or step light — 115 mm long, IP54, tri-colour switchable, CRI ≥90, and dimmable. 12 or 24 V DC — a driver is required.
| LYNX size | Total watts | Best output | Efficacy |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 × 3 W, 115 mm | 6 W | 490 lm | ⭐ ≈82 lm/W |
| 2 × 5 W, 175 mm | 10 W | 739 lm | ≈74 lm/W |
| 2 × 12 W, 260 mm | 24 W | 1,482 lm | ⚠ ≈62 lm/W |
voltage = 240V and ac_dc = AC; ✅ the
datasheet says 12/24 V DC and requires a constant-voltage driver.
CRI ≥90 against the ≥80 of most of this catalogue. ⚠ Measured: 100 of 282 Domus products stating a CRI reach 90 — 35%, ⭐ a substantial minority clustered in strips, step lights and exterior wall lights. ⭐ The up-light half is where it shows: grazing light across brick, render or stone is the hardest test of colour rendering, and at CRI 80 warm masonry reads grey. ⚠ On a low riser with nothing above it, the up-light is wasted — ⭐ the single-emitter 3 W LYNX is the fitting there.
application = Indoor on a fitting typed Exterior Wall Lights.

Surface-mounted up/down LED wall and step light. 115 mm. 2 × 3 W (6 W total). 12 or 24 V DC — constant-voltage driver required, wired in parallel. Switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5000 K. 408–490 lm. CRI ≥90. 120°. IP54. Cast aluminium, chromate pre-treated and powder coated. TPS cable gland. 50,000 hrs. Dimmable. Black or White. ⭐ THE MOST EFFICIENT LYNX at ≈82 lm/W — three of these give the light of one 2 × 12W for a quarter less power, over three positions. ⛔ ITS RECORD SAYS 240V AC — it is a 12/24V DC fitting. ⛔ The power field records 3W on a 2 × 3W fitting: size the driver on 6W each. ⛔ Warranty not recorded.

Not on energy, and that inverts the usual assumption. Efficiency falls as the fitting grows: about 82 lumens per watt on this 2 × 3W, 74 on the 2 × 5W and 62 on the 2 × 12W — a third less light per watt at the top of the range. So three of these draw 18W and give 1,470 lumens, against one 2 × 12W drawing 24W for 1,482. Almost identical light for a quarter less power, spread over three positions instead of one. On a path or a run of steps that is better twice over: less energy, and even light instead of one bright pool falling away.
Two more fittings, two more fixings and two more cable positions. Where the cable run already exists or the fittings sit along one wall, that is cheap. Where each position means a separate excavation or a separate penetration through masonry, it is not. So the answer depends on the labour rather than the fittings: tell us the situation and we will say which we would do.
Low voltage — 12 or 24V DC with a constant-voltage driver required. Its record says 240V and AC, and that is wrong: its own datasheet says 12/24V DC. This fitting must not be connected to mains. Twelve Domus fittings sold as 12V or 24V carry the same wrong figure. On a run of small fittings low voltage is usually the right choice anyway — one driver feeds them all in parallel, and six of these draw 36W in total, well inside a 60W driver.
Where the others will not fit or would look wrong. On a step riser, a low retaining wall or a narrow path edge, just over a hand's width reads as a detail rather than a fixture — which is usually what you want at knee height. A 260mm fitting on a 150mm riser looks wrong and often will not physically sit. The 490 lumens is modest, so plan on more of them at closer centres rather than expecting one to cover a length. That is the point of the size, not a limitation.
A 12V or 24V DC constant-voltage driver with the fittings wired in parallel, so every one sees the full voltage. Size it on 6W per fitting, not the 3W the record shows — this is a 2 × 3W fitting and the field records one emitter. Add headroom on top; running a driver at its rated maximum shortens its life. Six fittings at 6W is 36W, which sits comfortably on a 60W driver.
Only where there is a surface above it. Against a wall the upward emitter makes the wall read as lit rather than the fitting read as bright. On a low step riser with nothing above, half the fitting is doing nothing, and the single-emitter 3W LYNX is the better buy there. That is worth checking on this size in particular, because 115mm fittings often go exactly where there is no wall to graze.
On the up-light half, yes — grazing light across brick, render or stone is the hardest test of colour rendering there is, and at CRI 80 warm masonry reads flat and grey. We measured how special the figure is rather than assuming: 100 of the 282 Domus products stating a CRI reach 90, which is 35% — a substantial minority rather than a rarity, and clustered in exactly these products.
