The Domus LYNX 2 × 12 W is a surface-mounted up-and-down wall or step light — 260 mm long, IP54, tri-colour switchable, CRI ≥90. 240 V mains — no driver required. ⛔ Not dimmable.
| This listing — 240 V | The 12/24 V version | |
|---|---|---|
| Dimmable | ⛔ No | ✅ Yes |
| Driver needed | ✅ None | ⚠ Constant-voltage driver |
| Cabling | ✅ Standard mains | ⚠ Low-voltage run, driver sited dry |
| Output | 1,256–1,482 lm | Identical |
voltage = 240V, and that is right.
CRI ≥90, where most of this catalogue is ≥80. ⚠ We measured how special that is: 100 of the 282 Domus products stating a CRI reach 90 — 35%, ⭐ a substantial minority rather than a rarity, clustered in strips, step lights and exterior wall lights. ⭐ It matters most on the up-light half of this fitting: light grazing brick, render or stone shows colour rendering more than almost any other application, and at CRI 80 warm masonry reads flat and grey.
application = Indoor on a fitting typed Exterior Wall
Lights and rated IP54.Surface-mounted up/down LED wall and step light. 260 mm. 2 × 12 W (24 W total). 240 V mains — no driver. Switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5000 K. 1,256–1,482 lm. CRI ≥90. 120°. IP54. Cast aluminium, chromate pre-treated and powder coated. TPS cable gland. 50,000 hrs. Black or White. ⛔ NOT DIMMABLE — the 12/24V version of this same fitting is, and neither listing mentions the other. ⚠ Its power field records 12W on a 2 × 12W fitting: allow 24W per fitting for circuit load. ⛔ Warranty not recorded.

No — and this is the thing to settle before ordering, because it is not obvious. Every LYNX size is sold twice: a 240V version like this one, which does not dim, and a 12/24V version, which does. We measured all ten listings and the pattern holds in all five pairs. Neither listing mentions the other, so a buyer choosing on price or availability can end up with a fitting that will not do what they assumed. If you want to dim, take the low-voltage version and run a driver.
Simplicity. It wires like any mains fitting — no driver to size, site or eventually replace, and no low-voltage cable run. That suits a short run, a low fitting count, a retrofit onto an existing mains point, or a position where there is nowhere dry to put a driver. The output, CRI, body and IP rating are identical. What you give up is dimming, and on a long run you also give up the economy of one driver feeding many fittings in parallel.
Yes, and it is worth saying because the identical figure on its 12/24V twin is wrong. That listing is a low-voltage fitting recorded as 240V AC — one of 12 Domus fittings sold as 12V or 24V that carry the wrong mains figure. The same value is correct here and dangerous there, which is exactly why we check each SKU rather than reading a range once. If you are buying this one, the mains wiring is genuinely right.
24W — two 12W emitters. The power field records 12W, which is one emitter rather than the fitting, so allow 24W per fitting when calculating circuit load. On a run of ten that is 240W rather than the 120W the record implies, which is the difference between a comfortable circuit and a marginal one.
This is the largest, for a tall wall, a wide entrance or a facade with height to cover — 1,256 to 1,482 lumens, three times the 2 × 3W and double the 2 × 5W. It is also the least efficient of the four sizes, about 62 lumens per watt against 82 on the 2 × 3W. So where coverage allows, several small fittings beat fewer large ones on both energy and evenness; where you need reach, this is the one.
On the up-light half of this fitting, yes. Light grazing brick, render or stone shows colour rendering more than almost any other application: at CRI 80 warm masonry reads flat and grey, at 90 it keeps its colour. We measured how special the figure is rather than assuming — 100 of the 282 Domus products stating a CRI reach 90, which is 35%: a substantial minority rather than a rarity, and clustered in exactly these products.
It surface-mounts, which is the point of the range — Domus positions the LYNX for situations where recessed mounting is not an option, such as an existing masonry wall, a retaining wall or a step already built. It uses a TPS cable gland, so standard building cable enters the fitting directly without a separate junction box. The body is cast aluminium with a chromate conversion process before powder coating, which is what stops the coating lifting in wet and coastal positions.
