Domus LYNX 2 X 12W TRIO LED IP54 12/24V 260mm Long

The Domus LYNX 2 × 12 W is a surface-mounted up-and-down wall or step light — 260 mm long, IP54, tri-colour switchable, CRI ≥90, and dimmable. 12 or 24 V DC — a driver is required.

⛔ Read this first: it is 12/24 V DC, and its record says 240 V AC

• ⛔ The product record says voltage = 240V and ac_dc = AC. ✅ Its own datasheet says 12/24 V DC and “Requires: 12 V or 24 V DC Constant Voltage LED Driver”.
• ⚠ That is not a documentation gap. It is a figure an installer could act on. ⭐ This fitting must not be connected to mains.
• ⭐ We measured the catalogue rather than reacting to one listing: 12 fittings sold as 12 V or 24 V record 240 V AC — five LYNX, three ZAC-PRO, two ZEKE-PRO and two AURA step lights.
• ⭐ A 40-listing first pass shrank to 12 on reading down: 14 of the flags were drivers, where 240 V is the correct input, and the rest were the 240 V halves of paired ranges matched on prose about their siblings.
• ✅ There IS a 240 V version of this exact fitting — ⭐ and it is not dimmable. See below.

⭐ The LYNX pairing: 240 V or low voltage decides whether you can dim it

• ⭐ Five sizes, five pairs, and the pattern holds in every one. ⛔ No listing mentions the other half.
• ⭐ So the voltage choice is really a dimming choice. If you want to dim a LYNX, you must take the low-voltage version and run a driver.
• ⭐ Which is the right trade on a step or pathway light, where full output at 11pm is rarely what you want.
• ⚠ The cost is a driver, a low-voltage cable run and somewhere dry to put the driver. ⭐ On a long path that is often cheaper anyway, because one driver feeds many fittings in parallel.

⭐ Up and down from one fitting, at the highest output in the range

• Two 12 W emitters — ⭐ one throwing up the wall and one down — giving 1,256 lm at 3000 K, 1,408 at 4000 K and 1,482 at 5000 K.
• ⭐ That is roughly three times the 2 × 3 W and double the 2 × 5 W, so it is the one for a tall wall, a wide entry, or a facade where the up-light has some distance to cover.
• ⚠ It is also the least efficient of the four sizes. ⭐ 62 lm/W here against 82 on the 2 × 3 W — a third less light per watt.
• ⭐ So if you are running many and coverage allows, several small ones beat fewer large ones on both energy and evenness. ⚠ If you need reach, this is the one.

⭐ CRI ≥90, and what it is worth here

• CRI ≥90 — ⭐ where most of this catalogue is ≥80.
• ⚠ We measured how special that is, rather than assuming: 100 of the 282 Domus products that state a CRI reach 90 — 35%. ⭐ A substantial minority, not a rarity, and it clusters exactly where you would expect: strips, step lights and exterior wall lights — the products that wash a surface.
• ⭐ Which is why it matters here. An up-light grazing a brick, render or stone wall shows colour rendering more than almost any other application: at CRI 80 warm masonry goes flat and grey, and at 90 it keeps its colour.

• Cast aluminium body with a chromate process before powder coating — ⭐ that pre-treatment is what stops powder coat lifting off aluminium in a coastal or wet position, and it is the reason to choose this over a cheaper surface light.
• TPS cable gland — ⭐ it takes standard building cable directly, so no separate junction is needed at the fitting.
• ⚠ Wire in parallel, not in series. ⭐ Every fitting sees the full 12 or 24 V; a series run would divide the voltage and under-drive them all.
• ⛔ The record says application = Indoor on a fitting whose own product type is Exterior Wall Lights and which is rated IP54.
• ⛔ Its power field records 12 W on a 2 × 12 W fitting — ⚠ half the real draw. ⭐ Size your driver on 24 W per fitting.

• Anywhere recessed mounting is not possible — it surface-mounts.
