CLARO Modern Exterior Flush Wall Light

The CLARO is a modern flush exterior wall light in black or dark grey — IP65, 255 mm tall, projecting 130 mm, taking one E27 globe to 25 W behind clear glass.

IP65 — and what that means for where it can go

Dust tight and protected against water jets from any direction. That is the highest rating you will find on a decorative exterior wall light in this catalogue, and it matters:

• ✅ A fully exposed wall in driving rain — unlike the IP43 Siena spheres, which need shelter.
• ✅ Hosing down, a coastal-adjacent site, a wall that takes wind-driven water.
• ✅ A back patio, a front façade, a courtyard, a boundary wall.

⚠ Even so, your electrician sites it to the zones in AS/NZS 3000. And on a truly exposed coastal site, ask us — powder-coated aluminium is reasonable but not stainless.

Choosing the globe — on clear glass it is half the design

The CLARO's glass enclosure is clear, so the globe is on show:

• A decorative filament globe makes the fitting an object — the visible filament becomes the feature, which is the look this shape is designed around. ⚠ Choose an outdoor and enclosed-rated one; many decorative globes are neither.
• An opal or frosted globe gives an even glow and hides the source. Less character, more comfort, and the better choice if the fitting sits at eye level beside a door.
• Warm 2700–3000 K on a house entry. Cool white outdoors reads as institutional.
• Around 600–900 lm is the useful range — nowhere near the 25 W ceiling with LED.

✅ It dims — but only as far as the globe allows

The record is unusually precise here: dimming is “globe dependent”. The fitting has no dimming of its own, so:

• You need a dimmable globe and a compatible dimmer on the circuit.
• ⚠ Not every dimmable LED globe works with every dimmer — that pairing is where problems live. Ask us and we will match them.
• ✅ Worth doing: a dimmed entry light at night is a much better result than a bright one on a timer.

Flush and slim — where the shape earns its keep

• 130 mm projection on a 255 mm tall, 115 mm wide body. That is slim enough for a narrow side passage or a path where a bulkier lantern would be in the way.
• Mounted 1.8–2 m beside a door, the glow sits at the right height to read as a welcome rather than a floodlight.
• ✅ In pairs either side of an entry is where it looks most deliberate.

• Fully exposed positions — IP65, unlike the IP43 fittings here.
