Domus BF-8284 - Raw Ceramic Interior Wall Light

The Domus BF-8284 is a 300 mm raw ceramic wall uplight, only 45 mm high, taking two G9 lamps and supplied unpainted.

⭐ It is the flattest fitting in the range, and that is deliberate

300 mm wide, 150 mm deep, 45 mm high. A proportion of nearly seven to one.

• ✅ It reads as a shelf or a ledge rather than a lamp — a flat wedge sitting against the wall with light coming off the top of it.
• ✅ Which suits a flush-plastered modern interior, where a chunky shade looks applied and a low horizontal form looks built in.
• ✅ The 150 mm depth is what makes the wedge work — it holds two lamps far enough off the wall that the light spreads rather than scorching a stripe up the plaster.
• ⚠ Check that 150 mm in a corridor. It is a deep fitting even though it is a shallow one.

⭐ Two G9s across 300 mm, and the wattage is settled

• 60 W is the maximum per lamp — 120 W across the two. Across all 17 G9 fittings in the BF range the datasheet says 60 W whether the fitting takes one lamp or two, so it is not a fitting total; the BF-2185 (one G9) says 40 W; and the BF-2020 states “2x60W” in its own title.
• ⚠ Rated for it is not the same as fit it. A 45 mm-deep ceramic body has very little air in it, and 120 W of halogen in there is a poor idea. Two 4 W LED G9s come to 8 W and give roughly what two 40 W halogens did.
• ⚠ Both lamps identical, bought together. Two different G9s across 300 mm produce a visibly split wash on the wall above.

What raw ceramic means

• ✅ Unfinished on arrival, painted by you — any water-based paint, so the wedge can vanish into the wall or be picked out against it.
• ⚠ Porous until painted, so it marks.
• ⚠ Indoor, dry areas only.
• ✅ Made in Italy, body-coloured throughout.

Choosing the lamps — not supplied

• ✅ Two LED G9s, 3–4 W, 2700–3000 K, rated for enclosed fixtures — and in a 45 mm body, the enclosed rating matters.
• ✅ CRI ≥90 if the wall is a colour.
• ⚠ Matched pair.

Where it works

• A hallway, repeated at regular centres — the low form holds a rhythm without crowding the wall.
• A living room with flush plaster, where the wedge reads as architecture.
• Above a bedhead — a wide ceiling wash from a fitting that barely projects visually.
• ⚠ Not on a poorly finished wall — a flat wedge grazes plaster hard.

Requires 2 × G9 — not included; 60 W maximum per lamp, 120 W across the two (⭐ resolved by measuring the whole BF range; ⚠ use LEDs in a body this shallow).
