DOMUS TURIN PILLAR MOUNT B22

The Domus TURIN pillar mount is an exterior lantern fixed to the side of a column — 565 mm high, 290 mm square, die-cast aluminium with a moulded acrylic lens, taking one B22 bayonet lamp, in beige, black, burgundy, green or white. Made in Italy, assembled and powder coated in Australia.

Domus builds this fitting to order and asks for up to 10 business days for production before it ships. It is not picked off a shelf.

• ⭐ That is the trade-off for the finish choice. The body is powder-coated in the colour you pick after you order, which is why the range offers five rather than one stocked colour.
• ⚠ Plan the lead time into the job. If it is needed for a handover, a settlement or a booked electrician, tell us the date when you order and we will confirm the production window with Domus.
• ⚠ Order the whole set together. On a property using several of these, a second order placed later starts its own ten days — and a later powder-coat batch is not guaranteed to match the first.

Pillar mount, post top or wall bracket — which TURIN you need

The same lantern is offered three ways for three different situations, and the difference is where the fitting sits relative to the column:

• Pillar mount (this one) — fixed to the side of a column, at 565 mm the largest of the three. ✅ Right on a wide masonry pier where a finial would look lost, and right where you want the lantern at eye height rather than above the pier.
• Post top — sits on top, 485 mm. For a narrow pier or a plain post, where the lantern should read as a finial.
• Wall bracket — on an upward S-arm off a wall, 520 mm.

✅ And beyond those: a pendant, and single, twin or triple heads on posts from 1.32 m to 2.47 m. One lantern across a whole property is what makes an exterior scheme read as designed. Tell us the configuration and we will quote it.

⚠ IP43 — and on a pillar it is worth checking

Spraying water down to 60° from vertical — lower than the IP44 or IP65 most exterior fittings carry.

• ✅ Rain from above is within it.
• ⚠ Driving rain arrives closer to horizontal and is outside 60°. A pillar mount on an open gate pier faces the weather from the side, which is exactly the direction the rating does not cover.
• ⛔ Not for hosing, coastal spray or sprinkler overspray — and a fitting at 565 mm on a pier can easily catch sprinkler throw.

If the pier is open and exposed, ask us for an IP44 or IP65 alternative before you order.

Getting the proportion right on a pier

• At 565 mm high and 290 mm square, this is a substantial lantern — noticeably larger than the post top.
• ✅ It needs a pier with presence. On a wide masonry column or a rendered gate pier it is well proportioned; on a slim post it will overwhelm.
• ✅ In pairs, either side of a gate or a drive. Symmetry is what makes a pillar mount read as deliberate.
• ⚠ Check the projection against a car door or a gate swing before fixing a position.

Choosing the lamp — not supplied

• One B22. Behind the moulded acrylic lens it is diffused, so shape does not matter.
• Warm 2700–3000 K. Cool white on an entry reads institutional.
• Around 800–1,000 lm for a lantern this size.
• ⚠ Rated for enclosed fixtures and outdoor use.

Where it works

• Wide masonry piers, rendered gate columns and entry pillars — in pairs.
• Where the lantern should sit at eye height rather than on top.
• Traditional and heritage entries — particularly burgundy, beige or green.
• ⛔ IP43 — ask us if the pier is open and wind-exposed.
• ⚠ Pillar not included; B22 lamp not included.
