⭐⭐ Its dimensions are recorded correctly — and checking that mattered

• ⭐ Earlier in this programme a scan flagged seven products whose title states a length in metres and whose length field is far smaller. ⭐ Three of them were postlights.
• ⭐ WE DID NOT CLAIM THEM. ⭐ A title match is a hypothesis, and it seemed likely that on a postlight the length field records a footprint rather than the post height.
• ⭐⭐ MEASURED ACROSS THE CATALOGUE: 36 OF 36 POSTLIGHTS CARRY A height FIELD MATCHING THEIR TITLE WITHIN 100 mm. ⭐ This one states 1.96 m and records 1,970 mm. ⭐ Its length and width are both 290 mm — a square footprint.
• ⭐ SO THE POSTLIGHTS ARE CORRECT AND THE SUSPENSION KITS FLAGGED ALONGSIDE THEM ARE NOT. ⛔ Had all seven been reported as errors, three would have been wrong.
• ⭐ THE PRACTICAL POINT FOR A BUYER: read height for the post and length for the base footprint. ⭐ Both are accurate.

⭐ One casting, seven arrangements

• ⭐ The TURIN head is used as a wall bracket, a pillar mount, a post top, a pendant, and on single, twin or triple-head posts at six different heights.
• ⭐⭐ THAT IS THE REASON TO CHOOSE A RANGE LIKE THIS ON A PROPERTY RATHER THAN A SINGLE FITTING. ⭐ A driveway with posts, an entry with a pillar mount and a porch with a wall bracket all read as one scheme because they are literally the same lantern. ⭐ Mixing three different products to serve three positions is the common alternative and it shows.
• ⭐ THE SINGLE-HEAD HEIGHTS ARE 1.32 m, 1.96 m and 2.37 m. ⭐ This is the middle one, and it is the one most driveways want — tall enough to throw light usefully across a path, low enough not to dominate a garden.
• ⭐ 1.32 m suits a low garden edge or a step run; 2.37 m suits a broad frontage or a driveway entrance where the post has to be seen from the road.

⭐ Made in Italy, finished in Australia — and why the finish matters here

⭐ Die-cast aluminium with a moulded acrylic lens, cast in Italy and powder-coated in Australia. ⭐⭐ THE POWDER COAT IS THE PART THAT WEARS. ⭐ Aluminium under a coating is protected while the coating is intact; a chip from a mower, a whipper-snipper or a car door begins corrosion at that point. ⭐ On a post, the vulnerable zone is the bottom 300 mm, which is exactly where garden maintenance happens. ⭐ Keep mulch and soil away from the base, and touch up chips when they appear rather than at the next repaint.

⭐ IP43 — the number that decides the position

• ⭐ IP43 means protected against solid objects over 1 mm and against spraying water up to 60° from vertical. ⭐ It is the lowest exterior rating in common use.
• ⭐⭐ WHAT IT DOES NOT COVER IS DRIVING RAIN — ⭐ rain arriving at more than 60° from vertical, which is ordinary weather in a wind. ⭐ Nor hosing, nor a sprinkler playing on it.
• ⭐ ON A POSTLIGHT THAT MATTERS LESS THAN IT SOUNDS, because the lantern sits at the top of a vertical post and the head shelters its own opening — ⭐ but it does mean the fitting should not sit in the throw of an irrigation head. ⚠ Sprinklers are the most common cause of water inside a garden fitting, and they are easy to overlook at installation.
• ⭐ Check the irrigation layout before setting the post position.

⭐ B22 and no lamp — and on an exterior post the choice matters

⭐ The lamp is not included. ⭐⭐ INSIDE A CLEAR OR LIGHTLY-DIFFUSED ACRYLIC LANTERN THE LAMP IS VISIBLE, so its shape and finish become part of the fitting. ⭐ An opal or frosted B22 fills the lantern evenly and reads as a glowing object from a distance. ⚠ A clear or filament lamp is a bright point inside a box — attractive close up, glary from a driveway. ⭐ For a post that is seen from the street, opal is almost always right. ⭐ Choose a warm colour temperature: on a garden post, cool white reads as institutional.
