A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The Domus SHADOW 1LT garden spike is a 12 V DC spike light taking a MR16 lamp, IP65, 650 mm overall, in black or stainless steel.
✅ It takes an MR16 lamp — a two-pin, low-voltage base. We are stating that emphatically because another SHADOW spike in this range records the wrong lamp base entirely, and buying the wrong globes for a garden install is a wasted trip and a wasted afternoon.
MR16 is 12 V with two straight pins. It is not GU10, which is 240 V and twists in. If you already have GU10 globes in a drawer, they will not fit this and they would be the wrong voltage if they did.
⛔ It also needs a 12 V DC LED driver, wired in parallel — not included. Tell us how many spikes and over what run and we will size it.
Both variants are named TRIO, which in this catalogue means three switchable colour temperatures. Our record lists only two — 3000 K and 5000 K — and the 4000 K is missing.
⚠ Since the colour here comes from the lamp you fit rather than from the fitting, this is a record problem rather than a limitation. Tell us the colour you want and we will supply the matching lamps.
Single-lamp garden spike light, 650 mm overall, aluminium. Takes 1 × MR16 lamp — not included; 20 W maximum (⚠ our record's 10 W is a globe wattage, not the holder's limit). ⛔ 12 V DC — requires a constant-voltage LED driver, wired in parallel, not included. IP65. Black or stainless steel. ⚠ Colour temperature comes from the lamp you fit; our record lists 3000 K and 5000 K and omits 4000 K. Warranty 3 years.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
MR16, and it is worth being emphatic because another SHADOW spike in this range records the wrong base on its product page. MR16 is the 12 V two-pin lamp; GU10 is the 240 V twist-lock. They are not interchangeable in either direction, and GU10 globes will not physically fit this fitting.
20 W is the holder's maximum, from the datasheet. Our record says 10 W, which is a globe wattage rather than the limit. In practice you will use an LED MR16 at 5–7 W, which replaces what a 35–50 W halogen did and runs much cooler inside a sealed outdoor body.
Yes — a 12 V DC constant-voltage LED driver, wired in parallel, and it is not included. Tell us how many spikes you are running and over what distance and we will size it. Voltage drop over a long garden run is what makes the far fittings go dim, so the layout matters as much as the count.
That is set by the lamp, which is the advantage of a lamp-holder fitting. A 24–36° beam for a tree trunk or a wall where you want the light to travel; 60° for a shrub or a planted bed where you want it to spread. One type of fitting can do both jobs across a garden, and you can change your mind later without digging anything out.
3000 K on render, stone, timber and paving — warm light outdoors reads as light where cooler light reads as security. 4000 K pointed into a canopy, because neutral white keeps foliage reading green rather than olive. Since the colour comes from the lamp here rather than the fitting, tell us what you want and we will supply matching globes.
Black disappears into a garden bed, which is usually what you want — the light should be visible, not the fitting. Stainless is the choice near the coast and anywhere the fitting will actually be seen, such as gravel, paving edges or formal planting. Stainless is far more salt-resistant, not immune: rinse it occasionally in a beachfront garden.
Only if the driver supports it. Low-voltage dimming is a system question rather than a lamp one — the dimmer, the driver and the lamp all have to agree. Tell us how you want to control it and we will specify the chain rather than leave you to discover the incompatibility on site.
