What a linear pendant is for, and how high to hang it

A 1.7 metre continuous line of light does something no cluster of downlights does: it lights a long surface evenly, from end to end, with no scalloping and no dark gaps.

• Over a dining or boardroom table — run it along the table, not across. A 1.7 m pendant suits a table of roughly 1.8–2.4 m: shorter and it overhangs, much longer and the ends go dark.
• Over a kitchen island or a bench — the even line is exactly what a work surface wants.
• Over a reception desk or a workstation bank.

Hanging height: around 750–900 mm above the surface. High enough to see across, low enough to keep the light on the table rather than the room.

The numbers, and the honest limit

• 2,349 lm at 3000 K, 2,546 lm at 4000 K and 5000 K.
• 82 lm/W — good for a decorative linear fitting.
• CRI ≥80, SMD, 120° beam, 50,000 hours.
• IP20 — indoor and dry only.
• ⛔ It does not dim. On a fitting destined for dining rooms, boardrooms and hospitality that is a real limitation, and it is the first thing to check against your brief. If you need dimming, ask us — there are dimmable linear options in this range.

⚠ The lumen figures in our record mix two different lengths (1,658 and 1,797 lm belong to the 1.2 metre version). The figures above are the 1.7 metre ones.

Three finishes, and what they do in a room

• Aluminium — the neutral. Reads as architectural hardware and disappears against a light ceiling.
• Black — a deliberate line across the room. Strongest against a white ceiling, and the choice when the pendant is meant to be seen.
• White — the quietest. On a white ceiling it nearly vanishes, leaving the light without the object.

✅ An 80 × 80 mm section is slim for a 1.7 m fitting, which is what keeps it reading as a line rather than a beam.
