The Domus MONACO 2LT is a 2.4 m two-lantern post light — die-cast aluminium and moulded acrylic, IP43, 2 × E27, in five colours.

⛔⛔ It is described as waterproof. It is IP43.
  • ⭐ The listing says “the waterproof and weatherproof construction”. ⛔ The published rating is IP43, ⭐ and IP43 is not waterproof.
  • ⭐ IP43 means: protected against solid objects above 1 mm, and against water SPRAYED at up to 60° from vertical. ⛔ It is not rated against jets (that is IPX5), against heavy driving rain from the side, or against any immersion.
  • ⭐ What that means in a garden, practically:
    • ✅ Standing in ordinary rain — ⭐ what the rating is for.
    • ⛔ Hit directly by a pop-up sprinkler — ⚠ that is a jet from below, the exact direction IP43 does not cover.
    • ⛔ Hosed down when you wash the driveway.

Is it waterproof?

No, despite the wording in the listing. The published rating is IP43, which means protection against solid objects above 1mm and against water sprayed at up to 60 degrees from vertical. It is not rated against jets, against heavy driving rain from the side, or against immersion. IP43 is normal and perfectly appropriate for a decorative post light — but the number is what to design to, not the adjective.

What does that mean in a real garden?

Standing in ordinary rain is exactly what it is for. Being hit by a pop-up sprinkler is not — that is a jet from below, the one direction IP43 does not cover. Nor is being hosed down when you wash the driveway, or an exposed coastal position where rain arrives near-horizontally, outside the 60 degree cone. Site it clear of sprinkler throw and it will be fine.

When should I check that?

Before the base is poured. Moving a post light after it is concreted in is a much larger job than moving a sprinkler head, so the two layouts want to be looked at together once rather than resolved on site later.

Does it come with globes?

No — it requires 2 x E27 globes, not included. So the post arrives, gets concreted in, and does not light until someone supplies two lamps. Order them with it. Since the lanterns sit at 2.38m, choose a long-life LED E27 rather than the cheapest available: this is not a lamp you want to change often.

How large a lamp can I fit?

No maximum wattage is published, which is a real gap on a fitting with an enclosed acrylic lantern where heat has nowhere to go. Ask us before fitting anything large, and prefer LED, which produces far less heat than the incandescent or halogen lamps these lanterns were originally designed around.

How tall is it really?

2380mm — the title rounds to 2.4m. It is 840mm wide across the two lanterns. That is a substantial fitting: at nearly 2.4m it reads as a formal garden or driveway element rather than a path marker.

How long does it take to arrive?

Up to 10 business days for production, which is roughly a fortnight once weekends are counted. Unusually for a made-to-order Domus product, that lead time is actually published, so you can plan to it — but order before the landscaping is scheduled rather than after.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Our Rights

We reserve the right to refuse a return in cases where we cannot be reasonably satisfied that you purchased the product from us or where we are not responsible for the damage in accordance with our Faults & damages policy.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
