The Domus SENSOR-SM-01 is a ceiling-mounted 360° PIR security sensor for exterior use, IP65, with a 20 m maximum detection distance and a rated load of 1000 W LED / 16 A.
✅ This sensor is properly specified, which is rarer than it should be. Its datasheet gives every figure that decides whether a sensor works for a job:
| Specification | |
|---|---|
| Detection range | 360° |
| Detection distance | 20 m maximum — ⚠ below 24 °C |
| Time delay | 10 sec ±3 to 30 min ±2 |
| Ambient light threshold | <3–2000 lux, adjustable |
| Rated load | 1000 W LED / 16 A |
| Mounting height | 2.2–6 m |
| Working temperature | −20 to +40 °C |
| Power consumption | approx. 0.5 W |
⚠ None of these appears in our own product record, which is empty. Every figure above comes from the datasheet.
The datasheet reads “Detection Distance: 20 m max (<24 °C)”.
The datasheet states: “The terminal cover must be used in order to maintain IP65 rating.”
⛔ That is not optional. A ceiling-mounted exterior sensor with the terminal cover left off is not IP65, and the terminals are the part that fails when water gets in. Make sure your electrician fits it.
⚠ Its own product title is also truncated — it reads “IP6”. The rating is IP65.
Ceiling-mounted square exterior 360° PIR security sensor. IP65 — ⚠ conditional on the terminal cover being fitted. Detection 360°, 20 m maximum below 24 °C. Time delay adjustable 10 sec ±3 to 30 min ±2. Ambient light threshold adjustable <3–2000 lux. Rated load 1000 W LED / 16 A. Mounting height 2.2–6 m. Working temperature −20 to +40 °C, humidity <93% RH. Power consumption approx. 0.5 W. 240 V AC. White.

20 metres is the maximum, and the datasheet attaches a condition almost nobody states: that figure is for temperatures below 24 °C. A PIR sensor detects the difference between a body's heat and the background, so as the ambient temperature rises toward body temperature the range shrinks. On a 35 °C afternoon it will not reach 20 metres. That is physics rather than a fault, and it applies to every PIR — but design for the hot day, not the cool one.
2.2 to 6 metres, which is a generous band and covers a high carport or a warehouse eave. Bear in mind that mounting higher gives a wider circle but less sensitivity at its edge — so if detection has to be reliable at range, mount at the lower end of the band.
1000 W of LED, or 16 A. That is substantial — enough for a bank of floodlights rather than a single fitting. The 1000 W figure being stated for LED specifically is the useful form, because LED loads behave differently at switch-on from incandescent and a rating for one does not transfer. Tell us what is on the circuit and we will check the inrush.
Yes, and it is worth telling your electrician. The datasheet states that the terminal cover must be fitted in order to maintain IP65. A ceiling-mounted exterior sensor with the cover left off is not IP65, and the terminals are exactly the part that fails when water gets in. Note the product title here is also truncated and reads "IP6" — the rating is IP65.
10 seconds up to 30 minutes. That 30-minute upper end is unusually long and genuinely useful in a garage or workshop, where a short delay means waving at a sensor with your hands full. Start short and lengthen it — it is easier to diagnose a sensor that triggers too rarely than one that never seems to switch off.
Yes — the ambient light threshold is adjustable from under 3 lux up to 2000 lux, so you set how dark it must be before the sensor responds at all. Set it low for night-only operation, or higher if you want it working on an overcast afternoon in a dim carport.
Coverage from more than one direction. A wall sensor gives a 180° arc in front of it; this one covers a full circle around its mounting point, which suits a carport, a garage, an eave over a corner, or an entry people approach from either side. The trade-off is that it catches everything within 20 metres in every direction — so consider a nearby road, a neighbour's path or a washing line before choosing the position.
