The Domus SAMSON-FL is a mother-and-child floor lamp — a 30 W uplighter with a 5 W task arm, both push-dimmable and switchable across four colour temperatures, 240 V, in black.
| Mother (uplighter) | Child (task arm) | |
|---|---|---|
| Load | ⭐ 30 W | 5 W |
| 3000 K | ⭐ 2,215 lm | 309 lm |
| 4000 K | ⭐ 2,230 lm | 300 lm |
| 5000 K | ⭐ 2,284 lm | 301 lm |
| 6000 K | ⭐ 2,317 lm | 306 lm |
⭐ 3000 K warm white, 4000 K neutral, 5000 K white, 6000 K daylight. ⭐ Note that output rises slightly as the light gets cooler — 2,215 lm at 3000 K against 2,317 at 6000 — ⭐ which is normal: less phosphor conversion means less loss. ⭐ THE USEFUL PATTERN IS TO SET THEM DIFFERENTLY. ⭐ A warm uplighter and a cooler task arm gives a relaxed room with a crisp working pool in it, which is exactly what a study corner or a child's homework desk wants. ⚠ Setting both to 6000 K makes a living room feel like an office.
⭐ CRI ≥80 is the normal standard for general and task lighting. ⭐ It renders most things acceptably. ⚠ Where it shows its limits is on skin tones, timber and anything where colour judgement matters — ⭐ so for reading, homework and general living it is right, and for art, makeup or fabric selection it is not the lamp. ⭐ The strip products elsewhere in this range run CRI ≥90 for exactly that reason.
⭐ The sheet lists Class III, which means the LED modules run at extra-low voltage behind an internal driver — ⭐ so the parts you touch are never at mains. ⭐ On a floor lamp that gets moved, knocked and handled by children, that is a meaningful safety property rather than a specification detail. ⭐ 20,000 hours at four hours a day is around thirteen years. ⚠ The LED is not replaceable, so that figure is the lamp's life, not a service interval. ⭐ The 5 kg weight is deliberate — an uplighter needs a base heavy enough not to be pulled over.
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Output | ⭐ Mother 2,215–2,317 lm · Child 300–309 lm |
| Load | 30 W + 5 W, 240 V AC |
| Colour temperatures | ⭐ 3000 / 4000 / 5000 / 6000 K switchable |
| Dimming | ⭐ Push and hold — ⭐ both lights independently |
| Colour rendering | CRI ≥80 — ⭐ right for living and task, ⚠ not for colour judgement |
| Class | ⭐ Class III — ⭐ LEDs at extra-low voltage |
| Lifespan | 20,000 hrs — ⚠ the LED is not replaceable |
| Weight | ⭐ 5 kg — ⭐ deliberately heavy for stability |
| ⛔ IP footnote | ⛔ Refers to ceiling installation — ⭐ boilerplate |

Mother-and-child LED floor lamp. 30 W uplighter, 2,215–2,317 lm; 5 W task arm, 300–309 lm. 3000 / 4000 / 5000 / 6000 K switchable, push-dimmable independently. CRI ≥80. Class III. 240 V. 20,000 hrs. 5 kg. IP20. 1-year warranty. ⛔ ITS DATASHEET FOOTNOTE EXPLAINS THE IP20 RATING "once installed into the ceiling". This is a floor lamp — boilerplate carried across from a downlight sheet, and 6 of the 37 products carrying that footnote are not ceiling products. ⭐ THE RATING ITSELF IS RIGHT; only the explanation belongs to a different product. ⭐ READ THE MOTHER'S 2,300 LUMENS AS INDIRECT LIGHT: how much comes back depends entirely on the ceiling, and under a dark or raked one an uplighter underperforms.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Because the footnote is boilerplate carried across from a downlight datasheet — it reads "IP20 rating is from the underside of the down light once installed into the ceiling", and this is a floor lamp. We checked how far it goes: 37 products carry that footnote and 6 of them are not ceiling products. The rating itself is right — IP20 means indoor, dry, no protection against water. Only the explanation belongs to a different product.
The uplighter gives 2,215 to 2,317 lumens depending on the colour temperature, and the task arm 300 to 309. But read the uplighter figure as indirect light: 2,300 lumens fired at a ceiling comes back as soft, shadowless ambient light, comparable to a modest ceiling fitting but without a bright source in anyone's eyeline.
Entirely. A white flat ceiling returns most of the light; a dark or raked one returns much less. In a room with a dark ceiling an uplighter underperforms, and that is not the lamp's fault — it is the geometry. If the ceiling is dark, a direct lamp will serve you better.
Differently. A warm uplighter and a cooler task arm gives a relaxed room with a crisp working pool in it, which is exactly what a study corner or a child's homework desk wants. Setting both to 6000K makes a living room feel like an office.
Less phosphor conversion means less loss. 2,215 lumens at 3000K against 2,317 at 6000K is normal and small — about 5%. It is not a reason to choose one over the other; the appearance matters far more than the difference in output.
For living and task lighting, yes — it is the normal standard and renders most things acceptably. Where it shows its limits is skin tones, timber and anything where colour judgement matters. For reading, homework and general living it is right; for art, makeup or fabric selection it is not the lamp. The strip products elsewhere in this range run CRI ≥90 for exactly that reason.
That the LED modules run at extra-low voltage behind an internal driver, so the parts you touch are never at mains. On a floor lamp that gets moved, knocked and handled by children, that is a meaningful safety property rather than a specification detail. The 5kg weight is deliberate too — an uplighter needs a base heavy enough not to be pulled over.
