A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The Domus PLEX-COB-15-IP67-50M is a 24 V COB LED strip — 15 W per metre, 640 LEDs per metre, 180° beam, IP67, dimmable, 50 m roll.
| 50 m of IP67 at | Total load | Runs | ⭐ Cuts | Terminations |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 W/m | 250 W | ⭐ Fewest | ⭐ Fewest | ⭐ Fewest |
| 10 W/m | 500 W | 10 | 9 | 20 |

| 20 W/m | 1000 W | ⚠ Most | ⛔ Most | ⚠ Most |
⭐ Whatever wattage you choose, the cut count can be taken to zero. ⭐ A 5 m pack is exactly one run at the published limit, so ten 5 m packs give the same fifty metres with no intermediate cuts at all — ⭐ same strip, same drivers, nine fewer breaks in the coating. ⚠ The twenty terminations remain, and none of the range's connectors is rated above IP20, ⭐ so all twenty want dry locations. ⚠ Nothing in the catalogue suggests the substitution.
⭐ Fifty metres at 15 W is 750 W and ten drivers of about 90 W each — ⭐ roughly 130 W of continuous heat between them. ⭐ Group them in a ventilated cupboard rather than distributing them into ceilings, ⭐ and remember they are the part that fails first. ⚠ On a wet-area job the dry, ventilated, accessible location is usually harder to find than the strip position.

COB LED strip, IP67 silicon coated, 50 m roll. 15 W per metre at 24 V DC, 750 W total. 640 LEDs per metre, dotless. 3000 / 4000 / 5000 K. 180° beam. Dimmable. Ten drivers at approximately 90 W. 3-year warranty. ⭐⭐ ON AN IP67 RUN, CHOOSING A HIGHER WATTAGE COSTS YOU TWICE — higher current means shorter runs, and more runs means more cuts, and every cut breaks the silicon coating that provides the rating. ⭐ So the lowest wattage that gives enough light is worth more than it looks: not just cheaper to run, but fewer places the waterproofing can fail. ⭐ AND AT 640 LEDs PER METRE ACROSS EVERY WATTAGE, THE LOWER OPTION LOOKS IDENTICAL. ⭐ Ten 5 m packs take the cut count to zero.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Because two constraints compound in the same direction. Higher wattage means shorter runs, since current drives voltage drop. And more runs means more cuts — and on IP67 every cut breaks the silicon coating that provides the rating. So choosing a higher wattage costs you twice: more drivers and more places the waterproofing is compromised.
No. The run limit is in the family description, the silicon coating is mentioned once, and the wattage is on each listing — nothing connects them. It is the kind of consequence that only appears when the three are read together.
The lowest wattage that gives enough light, on a wet-area job especially. It is not only cheaper to run — it is fewer places the IP67 can fail. And at 640 LEDs per metre across every wattage the lower option looks identical, so there is no visual cost to the decision.
Yes, at any wattage. A 5 metre pack is exactly one run at the published limit, so ten 5m packs give the same fifty metres with no intermediate cuts at all — same strip, same drivers, nine fewer breaks in the coating. Nothing in the catalogue suggests the substitution.
They remain — twenty of them, two per run — and none of the range's connectors is rated above IP20. So all twenty want dry locations: inside cabinets, above ceilings, behind sealed panels, with only the sealed length in the wet zone.
Ten drivers of about 90W each, dissipating roughly 130W of continuous heat between them. Group them in a ventilated cupboard rather than distributing them into ceilings, and remember they are the part that fails first. On a wet-area job the dry, ventilated, accessible location is usually harder to find than the strip position itself.
Yes — one roll is one production batch, so all ten lengths come from the same run and the white stays consistent between them. If you buy ten separate 5m packs instead, ask us to source them from one batch.
