Domus PILLA-CUBE Exterior Pillar Mount Light

The Domus PILLA-CUBE is a cube-shaped pillar-top light in black or white — 227 mm square, 255 mm high, IP65, taking one E27 globe to 20 W.

A cube on a pier — getting the proportion right

• At 227 mm square and 255 mm high it is compact and geometric — noticeably smaller than the 565 mm Turin pillar mount and quite different in character.
• ✅ A cube reads as contemporary. On a rendered, brick or blockwork pier with square edges, it lines up with the architecture in a way a lantern or a sphere does not.
• ✅ It suits a modern house, which is what Domus intend: they describe it as complementing “most new and modern designed homes”.
• ⚠ On a traditional or heritage pier it will look wrong. The Siena sphere or the Turin lantern belong there instead.

✅ Use them in pairs, one on each pier. A single cube on one side of a drive reads as unfinished.

Choosing the globe — not supplied

One E27, 20 W maximum. Domus note it takes “most replaceable LED GLS shaped lamps” — the ordinary household globe shape.

• Warm 2700–3000 K. Cool white on a house entry reads institutional.
• Around 800–1,000 lm — comfortably inside the 20 W ceiling with LED, and enough to mark an entry without glaring down the street.
• Opal or frosted, not a clear filament — on a diffusing fitting a clear globe shows as a hot spot.
• ⚠ Rated for enclosed fixtures and outdoor use — an unrated globe runs hot inside a sealed cube and fails early.
• ⚠ Check the globe fits. A 227 mm cube has room for a standard A60, but an oversized decorative globe may not go in.

What a diffusing cube does with light

• The faces glow, so it lights outward in every horizontal direction and reads as a marker and an object — visible by day as well as lit at night, which on a pier is the job.
• It softly lifts the pier and the ground around it rather than throwing a defined beam. ⚠ It will not light a gate latch or a step usefully — if you need that, add a bollard or a downward wall light.
• ⚠ It spills upward like any diffusing fitting. If neighbours are close or you care about a dark sky, a shielded fitting is the better neighbour.

• Front entry piers, gate columns and blockwork walls — in pairs.
• Open, exposed positions — IP65, unlike most pillar fittings here.
• Modern and contemporary houses — a cube lines up with square architecture.
• ⚠ Wrong on a traditional or heritage pier — ask us about the Siena or Turin.
• ⚠ Globe not supplied; check an oversized decorative globe will fit.

227 × 227 mm, 255 mm high, powder-coated frame, black or white. One E27 globe to 20 W maximum, NOT supplied — a warm 2700–3000 K opal LED of about 800–1,000 lm, rated for enclosed outdoor use. 220–240 V AC, ✅ IP65 — dust tight and protected against water jets; suitable for a fully exposed pier. Warranty 1 year.
