Domus MURO-MAX-16 - 16W LED High Output Tri-Colour Single Head Exterior Spotlight IP65

The Domus MURO-MAX-16 is a 16 W COB exterior spotlight in die-cast aluminium with a glass cover, IP65, a 100° spread and switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5000 K, in black or white.

✅ CRI ≥90 on an exterior spotlight is the unusual part

• Most exterior lighting is CRI ≥80 and nobody minds, because it is pointed at brick and lawn.
• ✅ ≥90 changes what this fitting is good for. Aimed at render, sandstone, timber decking, a feature wall or planting, the material reads as its real colour rather than a flattened version — which is the whole point of lighting a facade.
• ✅ It also matters for security cameras. Higher colour rendering gives usable colour in footage rather than a grey wash.

The numbers, and one that runs backwards

• 1,700 lm at 3000 K, 1,800 lm at 4000 K, 1,600 lm at 5000 K from 16 W.
• ⚠ The 5000 K setting is the dimmest, not the brightest. That is the reverse of the usual pattern and worth knowing: on most fittings here the cool setting gains output. If you are choosing 5000 K expecting more light, you will get about 6% less than at 3000 K.
• 100° beam — a wide wash rather than a spot, despite the name. That suits covering an area (a driveway, a yard, a wall) rather than picking out a tree.

Built for weather

• Die-cast aluminium with a glass cover, IP65. ✅ Glass rather than polycarbonate is the right choice outdoors — it does not yellow or craze under UV, which is what makes cheap exterior fittings look tired after three summers.
• IP65 — full weather exposure, including being hosed.
• ✅ A fast-installation backplate with a male/female plug makes it a quick fix for an electrician.
• ⚠ 30,000 hours, below the 50,000 most of this catalogue quotes — normal for a COB running warm in a sealed body.

⛔ It is not dimmable

The datasheet is explicit. The colour switch is a dip switch at the back, set at installation, and it is not a control. Do not buy a dimmer for it.

Choosing the colour outdoors

• 3000 K — the default on a house. Render, stone, timber and paving read as lit rather than floodlit.
• 4000 K — the brightest here, and the right choice into planting or over a driveway where you want the area to read as bright.
• ⚠ 5000 K — commercial and security. Dimmest of the three, and it will make a domestic yard look like a car park.
