Domus KEY-GU10-GLASS LED Glass Globe

The Domus KEY-GU10-GLASS is a 6.2 W glass GU10 globe — 240 V, 60° beam, 520–540 lm, dimmable, in 3000 K or 5000 K. 3-year warranty.

⭐ It is the same size as the halogen it replaces — which is not a given

• The datasheet says it plainly: “Direct replacement in size to conventional size halogen GU10 lamps.” ⛔ That appears in no product field.
• ⭐ It matters more than it sounds. Many LED GU10s are longer than the halogen they replace, because the driver electronics need somewhere to go — and in a shallow downlight or a track head the lamp then fouls the housing, sits proud, or will not twist home.
• ⭐ So if you are relamping existing GU10 fittings, this is the safe choice. 50 mm across, 55 mm long — the conventional envelope.
• ⭐ Worth checking before you buy a box of anything else — the failure shows up after you have opened the packaging.

⚠ The glass body costs you on efficiency and on life

• ⭐ A third of the life, for a similar output. ⚠ 15,000 hrs is the shortest of the KEY globes; the polycarbonate tri-colour version runs to 50,000.
• ⭐ Glass looks better and sheds heat worse. A glass lamp reads as a proper lamp rather than a plastic one — ⚠ but the LEDs behind it run hotter, and heat is what shortens LED life.
• ⭐ So the trade is aesthetic, and it is worth making deliberately. ⭐ In a visible fitting where the lamp is part of the look, glass. In a recessed downlight where nobody sees it, the polycarbonate version lasts three times as long.
• ⚠ At 3 hours a day, 15,000 hrs is about 13 years — so this is a comparison, not a warning. ⭐ In a shop running 12 hours a day it is closer to 3.

Specifying it

• 6.2 W, 520 lm at 3000 K and 540 lm at 5000 K. CRI ≥80.
• 60° beam — ⭐ a wide flood for a GU10. At 2 m it covers about 2.3 m, so it fills a space rather than picking things out. ⚠ For accent work you want a narrower lamp.
• ✅ Fully dimmable with a suitable dimmer. ⚠ Trailing-edge; a leading-edge dimmer built for 50 W halogen will often misbehave at 6 W. ⭐ And several lamps on one dimmer behave better than one — the load is what most dimmers struggle with.
• IP20 — ⚠ indoor and dry. Not a bathroom zone, not outdoors.
• ✅ 3-year warranty, recorded — ⭐ longer than the 2-year replacement term on the PAR30 exterior globe in this same range.

⭐ 3000 K or 5000 K — and there is no middle

• Two options, and they are far apart. ⭐ No 4000 K version exists in this lamp, where the tri-colour GU10 in the same range offers all three.
• ⭐ 3000 K is domestic warm — kitchens, living spaces, retail displaying timber, food or fabric.
• ⭐ 5000 K is cold and clinical — garages, laundries, inspection areas, display of cool-toned goods. ⚠ It will make a living room look like a car park.
• ⭐ If you want neutral, ask us about the tri-colour version — ⚠ though that one is polycarbonate rather than glass.

Where it works

• Relamping existing halogen GU10 fittings — ⭐ it fits where longer LEDs do not.
• Visible fittings — track heads, exposed spots — where glass looks better.
• General room lighting — the 60° beam fills rather than accents.
• ⚠ Not in a bathroom zone or outdoors — IP20.
• ⚠ Not where 50,000 hrs matters — the polycarbonate version lasts three times as long.
