A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The Domus KEY-G5.3-TRIO is a 4 W LED bi-pin globe on a G5.3 base, running on 12 V DC, with switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5000 K, CRI ≥90 and a 280° beam.
⚠ Read this before you order: it is 12 V DC and it needs a driver. A G5.3 bi-pin is the low-voltage base — two straight pins — and it will not work in a 240 V fitting.
It requires a 12 V DC constant-voltage LED driver, which is not included. If you are replacing an old halogen MR16 you almost certainly have a transformer already — but an iron-core or electronic halogen transformer is not the same thing as an LED driver, and it is the usual cause of flicker or a globe that will not strike. Tell us what is behind the fitting and we will tell you whether it needs changing.
⚠ The title on this listing says “Non Dimmable”. Its own datasheet, its record and its web address all say dimmable. Three sources against one. We have flagged it with Domus; if dimming matters to your job, confirm with us first rather than relying on either line.
Most MR16-format lamps throw a narrow cone because the reflector is part of the lamp. This one is a clear polycarbonate globe with a 280° spread — it lights almost the whole sphere around itself.
Switchable between 3000 K (330 lm), 4000 K (350 lm) and 5000 K (330 lm).
4 W LED, G5.3 bi-pin base, 12 V DC. Ø18.5 × 45 mm. Output 330 lm at 3000 K, 350 lm at 4000 K, 330 lm at 5000 K, switchable. CRI ≥90, 280° beam, 50,000 hrs. Requires a 12 V DC constant-voltage LED driver — not included. ⚠ Dimming: the datasheet and the record say dimmable; the product title says non-dimmable. Confirm with us before you rely on it. Clear polycarbonate body, IP20. Warranty 3 years.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Ask us before you rely on it. The datasheet says dimmable, the record says dimmable and the web address of this listing says dimmable — the product title is the only source that says non-dimmable. Three against one, and we have raised it with Domus rather than quietly picking a side. If dimming matters to your job, confirm with us first.
Only if they are 12 V with a G5.3 bi-pin holder — two straight pins, the low-voltage base. It will not fit or work in a 240 V fitting. Bases are the most common ordering mistake in this catalogue, so check the holder rather than the fitting.
Usually not, and this is where most low-voltage LED problems start. It needs a 12 V DC constant-voltage LED driver. An iron-core or electronic halogen transformer is a different device, and driving an LED globe from one typically shows up as flicker, buzz or a lamp that will not strike. Tell us what is behind the fitting and we will tell you whether it needs changing.
No. The globe is sold on its own and the 12 V DC constant-voltage driver is separate. Ask us and we will size one for the number of globes you are running.
Colours that look like themselves. Most of this catalogue is CRI ≥80, which is fine for general lighting; ≥90 is a visible step up where the light falls close to what you are looking at — display cabinets, joinery niches, a dressing area, artwork. It costs a little efficiency, which is why it belongs in those places rather than across a whole house.
350 lumens against 330 at both 3000 K and 5000 K — about 6%. That is normal: a phosphor tuned for neutral white is more efficient than one tuned warm or cool. It does mean the room gets slightly dimmer as well as warmer when you switch down.
No, and this is the important difference. A halogen MR16 has its reflector built in; this is a clear globe with a 280° spread, so it lights almost the whole sphere around itself. In an open fitting or a shade that is exactly what you want. In a bare recessed housing with no reflector, you will not get a defined pool of light on the floor.
