The Domus IMPACT-120 is a 1,200 mm weatherproof and vandal-resistant LED batten — switchable 20 W or 40 W, switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5000 K, IP66, IK10, in an aluminium body.

  • ⭐ The aluminium body is the real difference. Domus describes the IMPACT as weatherproof AND vandalproof, aimed at public areas — ⭐ a metal body survives deliberate abuse in a way a plastic one does not, regardless of what the impact rating says about a calibrated test.
  • ⭐ IP66 over IP65 means powerful jets rather than jets — the step that matters where a hose is used in earnest.
  • ⭐ Aluminium also sheds heat better, which on a 40 W fitting in a warm plant room is worth having.

IMPACT where the space is public, hosed in earnest, or rough. The real difference is the aluminium body: Domus describes the IMPACT as weatherproof and vandalproof, aimed at public areas, and a metal body survives deliberate abuse in a way a plastic one does not regardless of what a calibrated impact test says. IP66 over IP65 also means powerful jets rather than jets. In a clean, sheltered space the HYDRO does the same job for less weight and less money.

Is it more efficient at 20W or 40W?

Neither — it is exactly flat. 20W gives 2,500 lumens and 40W gives 5,000, both about 125 lumens per watt, so two fittings at 20W give the same total light as one at 40W for the same power. That is a genuinely different answer from the HYDRO-120, where splitting gains about 13%, and the HYDRO-60, where it gains about 3%. So on the IMPACT the decision is purely coverage: two fittings give more even light over twice the length, one gives a brighter centre.

Does it take a T8 tube?

No, despite what the record says. It lists bulb type as T8, a fluorescent tube format, but this batten has SMD LEDs sealed in and takes no tube. Domus calls the range "a direct replacement to traditional T8 and T5 fluorescent battens" — it replaces those fittings, it does not take their tubes. Practically: no relamping and no tube to stock, and at 50,000 hours the fitting is replaced when the LEDs go.

What wattage is it?

Switchable 20W or 40W, set at installation — though the record says only 40W, dropping the lower setting. That is the same pattern as 18 of 22 multi-wattage Domus products, where the smallest value is the one that disappears. Set the switch deliberately and note what you chose, because nothing on the outside tells you afterwards.

What does IK10 actually protect against?

It is the highest impact rating in common use, tested to a defined energy. In practice it is what survives a trolley, a pallet corner or a ball — and on this fitting it is backed by an aluminium body rather than a plastic one, which matters where the abuse is deliberate rather than accidental. In a public subway or stairwell that combination is the reason to choose IMPACT over a cheaper batten.

What warranty does it carry?

Not recorded on this listing, which is worth asking about rather than assuming: the HYDRO range from the same supplier records five years. Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.
