The Domus GTA-832 is a post base complete with thread, to suit the traditional exterior range — aluminium, in five colours, made to order.
⭐ Beige, black, burgundy, green and white, applied to order. ⭐⭐ ORDER THE COLOUR OF THE POST IT IS GOING UNDER, NOT THE COLOUR THE RANGE WAS SPECIFIED IN. ⭐ On a property lit ten years ago those may differ — posts get replaced individually, and finishes get changed. ⚠ AND EXPECT A NEW BASE TO BE BRIGHTER THAN THE WEATHERED POST ABOVE IT. ⭐ Powder coat fades outdoors; a fresh base under a six-year-old column will not match exactly, and at ground level that is usually acceptable where it would not be at lantern height. ⭐ If the match matters, ask us about refinishing the column at the same time.
⭐ This base suits the traditional exterior range, which spans several families. ⚠ “Traditional” is a range description rather than a part number, so it is worth confirming rather than assuming. ⭐⭐ THE RELIABLE IDENTIFIER IS THE GT CODE ON THE ORIGINAL FITTING, plus the column's outside diameter and its thread. ⭐ Measure the column where it meets the existing base and send us the figure. ⚠ On a made-to-order part a wrong assumption costs ten business days as well as the price, and a post cannot stand while you wait.
⭐ No voltage, no wattage, no IP rating, no lamp base. ⭐⭐ A POST BASE IS STRUCTURAL, NOT ELECTRICAL — the cable passes through it, but the base itself has no electrical parts. ⭐ It correctly publishes only a warranty. ⚠ That is unusual here: 83 of 104 passive parts in this catalogue carry an electrical field they cannot have. ⭐ An absent specification on a structural part is the right answer.
Allow up to 10 business days for production. ⚠ A failed base cannot wait ten days standing up. ⭐ If a post is already unstable, take it down and make the position safe rather than propping it — and tell us at the time of ordering, because we may be able to advise on an interim.

| ⭐⭐ What it does | ⭐ Carries the whole fitting's weight and wind load |
| ⭐ So its failure | ⚠ Takes the post down — ⭐ not a repair |
| ⭐ "Complete with thread" | ⭐ Like-for-like — ⭐ no fabrication needed |
| ⚠ Replacement is | ⚠ Post down, cable disconnected — ⭐ an electrician-plus-labour job |
| ⭐ Why bases fail | ⭐ Water collects · ⚠ fertiliser salts · ⚠ mower strikes |
| ⭐ Inspect | ⭐ The bottom 300 mm — ⚠ blistering means corrosion beneath |
| Finishes | ⭐ 5, applied to order — ⭐ match the POST, ⚠ not the range |
| ⚠ A new base will be brighter | ⭐ Usually acceptable at ground level |
| ⭐ Confirm by | ⭐ GT code + column outside diameter + thread |

Post base complete with thread, to suit the traditional exterior range. Aluminium, five colours applied to order. No electrical parts. Made to order, up to 10 business days. 1-year warranty. ⭐ THIS IS THE PART THAT CARRIES THE LOAD — the column, the arms, the lanterns and their lamps all transfer their weight and wind load through it to the footing, which makes it the one component whose failure takes the whole fitting down. A cracked diffuser is a repair; a failed base is a post lying across a driveway. ⭐ IT SITS AT GROUND LEVEL, THE HARSHEST POSITION ON THE FITTING: water runs down the column and stops there, mulch banked against it holds that water in contact, fertiliser salts attack aluminium and its coating, and every mower strike is a chip where corrosion starts under the powder coat. ⭐ INSPECT THE BOTTOM 300 mm, NOT THE LANTERN.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Because everything else is supported by it. The column, the arms, the lanterns and their lamps all transfer their weight and their wind load through the base to the footing, which makes it the one component whose failure takes the whole fitting down. A cracked diffuser is a repair; a failed base is a post lying across a driveway.
The base arrives with the threaded connection the column screws into, rather than needing one fitted. That makes it a like-for-like replacement rather than a fabrication job.
It is not a lantern swap. The post has to come down, which means the cable disconnected at the base and the fitting supported while the new base is set. Treat it as an electrician-plus-labour job.
Position. The base sits at ground level, the harshest place on the whole fitting. Rain runs down the column and stops there, and mulch or soil banked against it holds that water in contact. Irrigation and fertiliser reach it, and fertiliser salts are aggressive to aluminium and its coating. And mowers and edgers hit it — each strike is a chip, and a chip is where corrosion starts under the powder coat.
The bottom 300mm, not the lantern. Blistering or lifting paint at the base means corrosion is already running underneath. The cheapest intervention is housekeeping: keep mulch and soil off the base, keep sprinklers pointed away, and touch up chips as they appear rather than at the next repaint.
The colour of the post it is going under, not the colour the range was specified in — on a property lit ten years ago those may differ, because posts get replaced individually and finishes get changed. And expect a new base to be brighter than the weathered column above it: powder coat fades outdoors. At ground level that is usually acceptable where it would not be at lantern height.
Confirm rather than assume. "Traditional exterior range" is a range description rather than a part number, and it spans several families. The reliable identifiers are the GT code on the original fitting plus the column's outside diameter and its thread — measure the column where it meets the existing base and send us the figure. On a made-to-order part a wrong assumption costs ten business days as well as the price, and a post cannot stand while you wait.
