GT-695 Vienna Large Downward Wall Light

The Domus GT-695 Vienna Large curved-arm downward wall light is a wall-mounted exterior lantern — 600 mm high, 300 mm projection and width, B22, 240 V, IP23, in five colours.

⭐ A curved arm with the lantern hung beneath — the combination is the point

• ⭐ The VIENNA LARGE offers this as well as the straight-arm GT-692 downward bracket and the upward GT-691.
• ⭐⭐ THE CURVE IS WHAT MAKES A DOWNWARD LANTERN LOOK TRADITIONAL. ⭐ A straight arm with a lantern hung under it reads as functional; a curved arm reads as a period fitting, because the curve is what the original gas brackets had.
• ⭐ SO THIS IS THE ONE THAT GIVES YOU BOTH: the considerate orientation and the traditional silhouette. ⭐ On a heritage frontage where an upward lantern would spill light over a boundary, that combination is exactly what is wanted.
• ⭐ AND THE DOWNWARD ORIENTATION IS THE CONSIDERATE ONE. ⭐ Nothing goes into the sky, the lantern body shades the source from anyone looking at the wall from a distance, and light lands on the ground where it is useful rather than on the wall above the fitting.

⚠ 300 mm projection — check what opens

• ⭐ It projects 300 mm from the wall and hangs 600 mm below the fixing.
• ⚠ THAT IS ENOUGH TO CATCH A DOOR, A GATE, OR SOMEONE CARRYING SOMETHING PAST. ⭐ Check the swing of anything near it and the width of the path beneath.
• ⭐ A USEFUL MOUNTING HEIGHT IS AROUND 2.0–2.2 m to the fixing, putting the lantern bottom near 1.4–1.6 m — ⭐ above head height and below the point where light stops being useful on the ground.
• ⚠ MOUNT THEM AT A CONSISTENT HEIGHT ALONG A FACADE. ⭐ Unevenly set brackets are conspicuous at night in a way they never are on a drawing, because each one throws a visible pool and the pools do not line up.
• ⭐ A CURVED ARM ALSO NEEDS MORE CLEARANCE THAN ITS PROJECTION SUGGESTS — ⭐ the arc reaches its widest partway out, so a straight measurement from the wall understates what it sweeps past.

⭐ IP23, and why downward helps on a wall

• ⭐ Record IP23, sheet IP23, and consistent with the family: all 25 VIENNA datasheets say IP23, 20 of 25 records agree, and ⛔ only 4 non-GT-numbered products say IP43.
• ⭐ IP2X keeps out fingers rather than insects; IPX3 covers spraying water to 60° from vertical. ⛔ Not driving rain, hosing or sprinklers.
• ⭐⭐ ON A WALL FITTING THAT IS MORE CONSTRAINING THAN ON A POST, because a wall channels water down its face and rain arrives at the bracket from directly above.
• ⭐ THE DOWNWARD ORIENTATION HELPS SUBSTANTIALLY. ⭐ The lantern hangs beneath the arm, so its own body sheds water away from the opening rather than collecting it — which is why a downward bracket outlasts an upward one on an exposed elevation.
• ⭐ MOUNT IT UNDER AN EAVE OR ON A WALL THAT IS NOT THE WEATHER SIDE IF YOU CAN. ⚠ On a fully exposed elevation expect water to find it eventually, and check the seals as part of any maintenance.

⚠ "Large" is a parallel range, not a size option

⭐ Bracket reference GT-691, fewer arrangements than the standard VIENNA. ⭐⭐ DECIDE THE LARGEST ARRANGEMENT YOUR SCHEME NEEDS FIRST, THEN PICK THE FAMILY. ⚠ Do not mix the two sizes on one property — a Large lantern beside a standard one reads as a mistake rather than a hierarchy. ⭐ Replacement panels are the GTA-691 (Large) set, which does not interchange with the standard GTA-671. ⭐ Note also that this range offers two downward brackets, this curved one and the straight-arm GT-692 — pick one and use it throughout, because the two arms side by side on a facade look unresolved.

⭐ B22, no lamp, and opal at a door

⭐ The lamp is not included. ⭐⭐ ON A WALL BRACKET THE LANTERN IS AT OR NEAR EYE LEVEL FOR ANYONE APPROACHING THE DOOR, so a clear or filament lamp is a bright point directly in their view. ⭐ An opal B22 fills the lantern and reads as a glowing object. ⭐ On the Large lantern that matters more, because a small bright source inside a big diffuser looks wrong. ⭐ Warm rather than cool: at an entrance, cool white reads as institutional and unwelcoming.
