The Domus GT-693 Vienna Large pillar mount is a pier-top exterior lantern — 600 mm high, 164 mm wide, B22, 240 V, IP23, in five colours.

⭐ 164 mm wide — narrow enough for piers a wider lantern would overhang

• ⭐ Most pier-top fittings in this catalogue are 300 mm or more across. ⭐ This one is 164 mm.
• ⭐⭐ THAT OPENS UP PIERS THAT OTHERWISE COULD NOT TAKE A LANTERN. ⭐ A single-brick pier is about 230 mm square, which a 300 mm fitting overhangs on every side; a 164 mm lantern sits on it with a margin.
• ⭐ THE PIER TOP STILL HAS TO BE FLAT AND LARGER THAN THE BASE. ⚠ A capped pier with a moulded or pitched top needs the cap worked or a spreader plate, which is masonry work rather than electrical.

• ⭐⭐ AND A PIER TOP IS THE MOST EXPOSED POSITION ANY OF THESE ARRANGEMENTS OCCUPIES. ⭐ No eave, no wall, nothing around it to break the wind, so wind-driven rain reaches it from every direction and the lantern's own body is its only shelter.
• ⭐ SEAL THE BASE TO THE PIER PROPERLY AT INSTALLATION. ⚠ Water sitting between the fitting and the masonry is what corrodes the fixing, and it is the point nobody inspects.
• ⭐ THE SOLIDS RATING IS THE ONE TO NOTE ON A GARDEN LANTERN — ⭐ IP2X does not keep insects out, and a lantern filling with insects is the commonest complaint about fittings like this. ⭐ Expect to open and clean it periodically.

⚠ "Large" is a parallel range, not a size option

⭐ The VIENNA LARGE uses bracket reference GT-691 and offers fewer arrangements than the standard VIENNA. ⭐⭐ DECIDE THE LARGEST ARRANGEMENT YOUR SCHEME NEEDS FIRST, THEN PICK THE FAMILY — ⭐ if a twin or triple-head post is wanted anywhere, check the Large range offers it before committing. ⚠ And do not mix the two sizes on one property: a Large lantern beside a standard one reads as a mistake rather than a hierarchy. ⭐ Replacement panels for this range are the GTA-691 (Large) set, which does not interchange with the standard GTA-671.

⭐ The lamp is not included. ⭐⭐ A PIER-TOP LANTERN IS SEEN FROM THE ROAD, THE DRIVE, THE FOOTPATH AND FROM INSIDE THE PROPERTY, which makes the lamp choice more visible than on any wall arrangement. ⭐ A clear or filament lamp is a bright point at the entrance, glary from a car and from the footpath. ⭐ An opal B22 fills the lantern and reads as a glowing object. ⭐ Warm rather than cool: at an entrance, cool white reads as institutional.
