The Domus EXIT-WPBOX is an IP65 weatherproof housing that lets a ceiling-mounted exit sign be installed in undercover outdoor areas — clear and white polycarbonate, rated IK10.
⚠ This is an accessory, and it fits one thing. The EXIT-WPBOX houses the EXIT-SM-24M ceiling-mounted exit sign series. It is not a universal enclosure and it is not an exit sign — there is no light in the box. If you are not already fitting an EXIT-SM-24M, ask us before ordering.
Exit signs are required in places that are outside but covered — external stairwells, breezeways, covered walkways, undercroft car parks, loading areas. A standard indoor exit sign in one of those positions will fail: not from rain landing on it, but from humidity, wind-driven damp and dust getting into the electronics over years.
The usual answers are to specify a purpose-built weatherproof sign, which is expensive and limits your choice, or to accept early failure. This box is the third answer: keep the standard sign and put a rated enclosure around it.
Why IK10 matters more than it sounds: the places that need an outdoor exit sign are also the places where things get hit — car parks, loading docks, stairwells, plant rooms. An exit sign is a life-safety fitting, and one cracked by a trolley or a ladder has stopped doing its job. IK10 is the specification that keeps it working, and it was on no page.
The box is clear over the legend and white around the body, so the sign reads normally through it. That matters for compliance as much as for looks: an exit sign has to be legible at the required viewing distance, and an enclosure that tinted or obscured the legend would compromise it.
⚠ Your certifier still signs off the installation. The enclosure does not change your obligations under AS/NZS 2293 — it lets a compliant sign survive where it otherwise would not.
⚠ What we cannot tell you. The datasheet gives the IP65 rating and the IK10 rating, and does not record the box's dimensions, weight, fixing centres or warranty. On an enclosure, the dimensions are what tell you whether it clears a beam or a duct.
Ask us before you set out a position and we will get the figures from Domus. Its siblings in this catalogue carry three to five years; we will not state a warranty we do not hold.
Weatherproof surface-mounted housing for the EXIT-SM-24M ceiling-mounted exit sign series. Clear and white polycarbonate, so the legend reads normally through it. IP65 — dust tight, protected against water jets. IK10 — 20 joule impact, the top of the IK scale. ⚠ Dimensions, weight, fixing centres and warranty are not recorded — ask us. The sign itself is a separate product. Installation and certification to AS/NZS 2293 remain with your certifier.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
No — it is an empty weatherproof housing. There is no light in the box. It exists to let a ceiling-mounted exit sign be used in an undercover outdoor area.
The EXIT-SM-24M ceiling-mounted exit sign series, and nothing else. It is not a universal enclosure, so if you are not already fitting an EXIT-SM-24M, ask us before ordering.
It will fail — not usually from rain landing on it, but from humidity, wind-driven damp and dust reaching the electronics over years. The alternatives are a purpose-built weatherproof sign, which is expensive and limits your choice, or accepting early failure. This box is the third answer: keep the standard sign and put a rated enclosure around it.
It is the top of the IK impact scale — a 20 joule impact, which in practice is a 5 kg mass dropped from 400 mm. It matters because the places that need an outdoor exit sign are also the places where things get hit: car parks, loading docks, stairwells. An exit sign cracked by a trolley or a ladder has stopped doing its job.

No. Your certifier still signs off the installation and AS/NZS 2293 still applies. The enclosure lets a compliant sign survive where it otherwise would not.
Not recorded, and we would rather say so than guess. The datasheet gives the IP65 and IK10 ratings and not the dimensions, weight or fixing centres — which on an enclosure are what tell you whether it clears a beam or a duct. Ask us and we will get them from Domus.
