The Domus DUSK-SPIKE-MR11 is a solid brass garden spike light — 3 W at 12 V DC, IP65, with a replaceable MR11 lamp, a 38° beam and CRI ≥80. Ø41 mm. Bronze or black.

⛔ Its datasheet names a replacement lamp — in the wrong colour

• The sheet reads: “Suggested Replacement Lamps: KEY-MR11-3-6000K 65017”.
• ⭐ Naming the spare is genuinely helpful, and rare — most fittings leave you to work it out.
• ⛔ But this fitting is 3000 K and the named lamp is 6000 K. Following the manufacturer's own suggestion would take the light from warm white to cold white, which on garden planting is a completely different result.
• ⚠ It may be a product-family name with a 3000 K option rather than a fixed 6000 K part — we have not assumed either way.
• ⭐ Ask us before ordering a spare and we will confirm a 3000 K MR11 that matches the original. Do not order 65017 on the strength of the sheet alone if you want to keep the warm light.

⭐ The narrow, discreet one of the two DUSK spikes

• 38° beam from a Ø41 mm head, against the MR16 version's 60° from Ø58 mm.
• ⭐ A 38° beam is an accent beam. It picks out a single specimen plant, a sculpture, a tree trunk or a feature stone, and leaves the surroundings dark — which is what makes a garden look composed rather than floodlit.
• ⭐ And the small head hides. At Ø41 mm it disappears into planting by day where a Ø58 mm head reads as hardware.
• ⚠ 240 lm is modest — less than half the MR16 version. On a large shrub it will look thin; on a single upright subject it is exactly enough.

⚠ A shorter rated life than almost anything else here

• 35,000 hours, against 50,000 across the DUSK-PATH range, the MR16 spike and most of this catalogue.
• ⭐ It matters less than it looks, because the lamp is replaceable. On a sealed fitting 35,000 hours is the life of the product; here it is the life of a part you can change.
• ⭐ At four hours a night that is about 24 years — so in practice it is a re-lamping interval rather than a replacement date.

⛔ It needs a driver, and that is not included

• 12 V DC constant-voltage LED driver required, not supplied. ⭐ Wire in parallel.
• ⭐ At 3 W each these are the lightest load in the DUSK range — twenty fittings is 60 W, so a 100 W driver with headroom.
• ⚠ Volt drop still applies on a long run. Tell us the layout.
• ⭐ The sheet specifies a Water STOP cable joint — ⭐ the joint is where a garden installation usually fails, so a sealed one is worth confirming is included.

Specifying it

• IP65 — dust-tight, water jets; sprinklers are fine.
• 3000 K fixed, 240 lm, CRI ≥80. ⛔ Not dimmable.
• Ø41 mm, 2 m cable, solid brass, bronze or black.
• ✅ Warranty 5 years, and ✅ the listing records the material, the beam angle, the colour temperature and the IP rating properly — better documented than most of this range.
• ⚠ Its web address is truncated mid-word (“driver-require”), which is untidy rather than harmful.

Where it works

• Single specimen plants, sculptures and tree trunks — the 38° accent beam.
• Formal and restrained schemes, where a small head matters.
• Gardens on sprinklers — IP65.
• ⚠ Not on a large shrub or a wide bed — the MR16 version is the wide one.
• ⚠ Not without confirming a 3000 K spare before re-lamping.
